Is there only three trainers in the States?

Roach, McGirt and Steward.

Honestly, they seem to lock down everyone.

Who will Saj Mahmood play for if they all emigrate?

The White Sox?

He'd be there a fortnight on that diamond if he keeps bowling to first base like he does in cricket.

They do definately seem to be the three that British fighters seem to look at.... what about Dan Goosen or Cunnigham... I think up there with any of them.

That's a very good point, Payne. But if you're going to up sticks and move lock stock, you probably want a proven world class name. It happens in all sports. He could do worse than spend 6 months in Nacho Berstein's gym getting beaten up by a bunch of rapacious hispanics desperate to make a name for themselves by whoopin the pampered Brit.

I disagree that there was a circus in the gym mate, and I disagree its the best thing for the gym. I cant comment on money etc... But everytime I've had the pelasure of going to Olivers gym Amir was quiet and focused. There was no entourage or mouthy exchanges. I also think having a world class prospect in the gym developes the other lads. Im sure the likes of Alex and Mark have had some fantastic sparring sessions with Amir, and I bet they've learnt a lot during those sessions. Amir is also a draw, when top prospects are looking for a gym, and they see the one Amir trains in they're surely more likely to chose that one?!

As it stands I've no doubt Oliver is one of the best trainers in the UK, but perhaps it was time Amir moved on. You need to look no further than Jamies defensive improvements between Jones 3 and macklin to see Oliver can change things, but the personality may have outgrown the gym and outgrown the trainers persona? He's a young kid too, would you rather be in LA with Pac man, hopkins, DLH etc.. or Salford?

A stint in the states could be good for him, perhaps he needs to be the weaker guy in a sparring session (no disrespect to anyone at olivers), the small fish in abig pond for once. As Carbo says, having some crazy iron headed hispanics throwing 100 punches a round may serve him well.

Sounds like Amirs being misled by his family, not proper boxing people. They must see all this as a big family business thingy.

Its not that i want Amir to fail, its just that i appreciate a guy like Thaxton trying to go through a dangerous world class European champ like Yuri Romanov to try get a title, as opposed to Team Amir picking an unranked no mark from Denmark as his 'route' to a world title shot.

Amir is an arsehole waiting to happen. At least with Hatton and Hamed they had achievd something in boxing before they got their families invloved with the sole intent of making as much dough as possible.

Khan has done nothing in the pros yet and may well go on to do nothing at his current rate. I think the writing was on the wall when the almost reclusive (in terms of the media that is) Oliver Harrison came out and said that Khan needed to ensure he didn't get distracted by too much of the ring stuff before his last fight. For Harrison to even come out and say that showed that trouble was brewing.

I wonder if Khan himself had the balls to tell Harrison he was being "sacked" or was it left to his commercial and business manager?

I've no problem with Khan leaving Harrison to go to an American trainer with the goal of furthering his career but it's the way he's going about his business that indicates Khan and those around him have lost the plot.

A number of posts have interested me in this thread.

This is yet another occasion where I say sometimes "Boxing Politics" gets in the way yet again.

I have no doubts that Amir Khan is a cracking bloke when he is on his own and does not have people speaking on his behalf - I also was slowly but surely swaying towards the view that Amir Khan could really make it on the world scene - but as has been pointed out its in my opinion the people/family "Wanting to do well for Amir" that really gives me a problem that the bigger Amir gets the greed may take over and some may spiral out of control and make dealing with Amir very difficult.

The point that I make above - leads me to think how on earth is Mr W arren dealing with this situation - Sportsnetwork are undeniably the NO1 promoters in Europe and that I feel is a lot down to Mr W arren doing things the way he wants etc etc - it seems in my opinion that Team Khan will not want this to continue and if they do - it certainly will not be for much longer!!! - someone in the partnership of Team Khan & Sportsnetwork will have to give ground - if not as some have already predicted there maybe a parting of ways - I would love to be a fly on the wall in the forthcoming negoitiations on a new contract!!! - I believe Khan has one more fight on his contract!!!

I honestly believed with the likes of Calzaghe, Hatton and now Khan there was enough slices of the money to go round for everyone to make their fair share - it seems the only one in my opinion who has stayed loyal is Calzaghe!!! bloody hell can't believe I have stated that!!!

Going to Glynn Leaches post - I am delighted if indeed Oliver Harrison has made a stand and not stood for the bullsh*t and I am glad in some ways he is well out of it - but on the other hand gutted for the bloke because now Amir Khan is getting the money coming in the further he goes up the pecking order I honestly believe the trainer should get a slice of that for doing the hard graft when the smaller fights with little money were happening!!!

There is more to this and when the bullsh*t starts which it will do - I know who I will be battling for its certainly not Team Khan - to be honest I hope they do f*ck off to America - one thing for sure is that the Americans won't put up with in my opinion their bullsh*t!!!

Just read the utter garbage on Khan's forum - quite laughable really from people who know f*ck all about the sport.

Its amazing how rumours on how a trainer gets treated like a piece of sh*t (In my opinion of course!!!) - changes your views on a fighter.

Please please and please - Mr W arren, or whoever the promoter is give Team Khan their wish - match him tough - when he gets sparked for being arrogant enough to hint/insuate the experts are wrong and that he is ready for a world title - I hope whoever he fights sparks him.

Harrison seems to be good at keeping a fighter relaxed and doesn't stress when giving advice In the corner.

I don't think Khan going to America is a problem, it's the circumstances and seeming DUMPING of Harrison that people don't like.

Amir's as thick as pigshit anyway, no doubt he is controlled by his minders, who are essentially using him to make money for themselves.
