FFS anyone know how long he can sit on his WBC 168 belt without defending it? Frank will no doubt get him to hang onto it tooth and nail as to inconvenience Mick and Our Frochy, like a spiteful little school kid.

I'd love to see Froch and JC square-off in the same way as I'd love to see Hatton and Witter fight, but the case for getting Calzaghe to fight Froch fight is nowhere near as strong the Hatton debacle. Stage of careers, how long the fight's been a viable option, the weight they're currently competing at etc.

Options for Carl

1) Kessler should be the person who Froch and Mick target next IMO, they should be doing everything possible to make that fight they might even be able to get the fight for the interim title if it's possible, especially considering Micks relationship with the WBC. Would/should travelling to Denmark be a problem?

2) Look at getting a voluntary shot at Mundine or Butes titles, both of which he'd no doubt have to travel for

3) another option is to sit on the ranking and wait for JC to fcuk off or fight him (which I unfortunately can't see happening) and Carls quite rightly eager to move on with his career and contest for World titles (wank option)


Hopefully Mick can trade on his good relationship with the WBC (he's probably in their ears as I write this) and speed up the process of stripping JC of a belt he's not going to defend.

I think it is going to be hard for him when retired. Muhammed Ali, Joe Louis, Ray Robinson, Marvin Hagler, Ray Leonard, throw in your own names. They are all considered great but what do they have in common? People can pull apart their records to prove they are not greater than other fighters.

If a record with names such as Moore, Liston, Patterson, Frazier, Norton and Foreman can be pulled to pieces then Joe's record will get marmalised post-boxing. That's why he needs Jones, to help him with his 'too little too late' strategy.

I agree up to a point. But I actually think its in three stages.

First you're built up as the greatest thing on earth - notice Calzaghe presently, then post retirement - as your former opponents get swiped and a new young buck appears - you're ridiculed as a pampered champion. The over time, and the time varies from fighter to fighter, you become part of the old-school who would have easily dispatched the now fading young buck.

Look at Bruno - Revered, mocked and now proposed as someone who would clean up the division.
