Tell me something Forum - lets get controversial now - If Amir Khan loves the UK so much and all the b*llocks thus far in his career is not just empty propaganda and he loves the UK so much - why does he have to turn to another country to find a trainer to get him where he wants - its him that has turned on the patriotism tap to get the fans and media on side - now suddenly the UK and its trainers may not be good enough for Amir!!! - why not Amir??

Spud - it is nothing to do with 'political correctness' you are just talking out of your arse and using Khans religion and racial origins to score a point on behalf of your mate. Now listen, if Hatton had changed his trainer to someone from another country you would not question his birthright or his nationality - why is that when Hatton and Khan are both born within 10 miles of each other and were both brought up in this country.

Secondly - as a mixed race man who was brought up in the 1970s - I remember when racist twats had carte blanche to say whatever they wanted - and now - there are laws to stop loud mouthed morons from spewing filth! If you want to call that political correctness and see it as a sad day for 'freedom of speech' then I personally don't give a shit - Khan is born here, raised here and has represented his country - how dare you question his loyalty? Who are you to do this?
Carlos - I am not a racist and never have been - plain and simple - no matter what I write on here it gets disected and I have finally had enough - something has got to be done.

To accuse me of such things leads me to only one conclusion that there are a number of posters who will stop at nothing in their relentless pursuit of causing trouble for me and my family.

Pathetic mindless bollocks - I love boxing and always will do - many boxers that I have grown to call pals are of different religiions and colour and I find it disgusting some of the posters on here who will stop at nothing in their mindless pursuit.

Very sad.
I disagreed with your post but I certainly didnt find anything racist in it. Maybe you did question Khans loyalty to Harrison and British trainers but that doesnt make you a racist. British born Asians are of course British, while still retaining their religion and culture and also having loyalty to both where their family originate from and Britain as well. I dont know why Carlos read into your post what he did. I have lived a bit longer than he has and Britain was very racist in the 1950s and 60s, it was horrible to say the least. Everyday you saw evidence of it such as flat for rent, white Europeans only and some things written were often far worse. That isnt to say there wasnt a level of it in the 70s but things were improving. As Carlos says laws have helped a lot and todays world is a far better place as a result of legislation. Sadly it hasnt gone away completely but most intelligent people will have nothing to do with racist attitudes which stem from ignorance. Sadly also the race issue is used far too frequently which is upsetting if nothing racist was intended. I think this was the case here, and I like you Spud, wouldnt like to be labelled a racist. However I think your post was daft and I just feel Amir Khan is doing what he believes is right for himself and his career.

To be fair WW and I suppose either I or Spud should have commented on it - Spud wrote a tirade about 'political correctness' and how it wasn't like the good old days where he could have said what he wanted and he edited and then took down that paticular post - by the time I commented on his tirade about how terrible political correctness is - I had already posted - as you can see Spud wiped out what he had to say thus 'post edited'.

I don't think spud is racist, I don't think it was paticulary clever or sensible to say what he did and if Team Khan did indeed pm him about the comments he made and demanded a retraction then it was just in my opinion. These days - every hard working muslim has their loyalty to this country questioned off any bigoted halfwit. If you like Khan or you don't, I don't think the way spud came across in that paticular post was paticulary clever or fair. Khan has proven time and time again where his loyalties lie as regards his nationality.

I also stand by the statment that if Ricky Hatton did exactly the same thing then Spud would not have brought up any questions about Hattons patriotism or nationality.

Obviously he can anwser better than I about what he wrote but because he refuses to do so - we will never know!

What did he do to prove his loyalty?

Bloody hell - he just fought for this country in the olympics and won a silver medal - thats a lot more than most, don't you agree?

Now I - if I was a 10th as good a boxer as Amir Khan was in the amateurs I would have gone with my mothers country of Peru in the olympics if given a choice and thats if I was offered sport England lottery money or not!

You can't win with this - if you are Lewis and fight for your adopted country you are not a Brit though you were born here and if you were born here and fight for the country you were born in - you loyalties are still questioned!

I don't know what Khan has to do... shave his head and have a big tattoo of a bulldog on his chest?

Fighting for Britain doesn't really prove that much, as it could well be judged to be a financial decision. I am not saying he is not loyal to Britain, but you implied that his loyalty is beyond doubt, which I do not think is the case based on this evidence.

Thanks Carlos for your reply mate. The truth is most of us have our roots in other counties. My wife has Irish and Danish in her background and my parents were English and American. The thing is we were both born here so we are British. I agree Amir Khan won silver for Britain and demonstrates his loyalty to the British flag in his professional career. Anything I may say about the lad has only to do with his boxing abilities and nothing else. Having said that I did make comments about his driving when he behaved like an arse on the road. Yes, we shouldnt see him as any different to Ricky Hatton they are both British fighters from roughly speaking the same area. They have both done a lot for the sport and in my opinion Khan has done more by bringing back British interest in the sport on ITV. We can only hope Carl Froch and Junior Witter keep it going with good wins also. I think Spud needs to think more about his posts, he only brings trouble on himself by writing outrageous things at times. He has good knowledge of boxing and some of his posts have been worth reading but sadly not all.

Spud wrote:If you and others - in particular Team Khan are saying my comments are thoughtless and with no merit then I have no other option but to profoundly apologise -

I am now in a world I simply do not understand and actually do not want to:

Its okay for me to be called a paedo etc etc etc - comments no matter what I have done which caused great upset and anger in my family - where was my apology - the endless threads of abuse and dam right out of order personal attacks on me - on this forum - in the past would have been enough to land anyone in hot water.

But yet it is me who is humble enough to apologise and mean it for comments if they are taken out of order or out of context.

Carlos - f*ck me in the past I actually enjoyed these forums and even in the days of Mr W arren or other personalities writing letters here and there - still came back.

Carlos - on this occasion and finally you have my word - I will not be coming back.

Moderators - please feel free to ban my username and please feel free to check and verify IP addresses whenever you wish.
Sad to see you go Spud, you have made some good contributions on here but the contraversial side of you has made people bite and got you into trouble.

Another bit of Spud-baiting me thinks

But on the subject of khans `loyalty to the British flag etc...` thats Khans gimmick - isn`t that obvious to all?
Remember the sash on his shorts in the early days would have colours reflecting where the fight was being held - Tartan, green, red or Union jack:lol:

And didn`t he try to get to the Olympics through representing Pakistan also? .. he`d have fought for Nauru if it got him a place there

I don't see what he has done wrong, he put a view point out there, which was tinged with more than a fair share of emotion based on a feeling of discomfort over the way Olly Harrison has been treated.

People have misconstrued his ramblings, and implied there are racial undertones in what he posted - Quite honestly, I think they are wrong and the resulting bullying was crass.

Mayweather fits the bill. You're spot-on: it's reluctant respect that makes us quietly hope for a downfall.

Lennox was a prime example for me; I'd wish defeat upon him when he was being apparently cocky/casual, but then support him during his rematches.

Eubank became liked when he had to show something other than skill. It was no fun watching him cruise through fights using intimidation and trickery, so naturally I wondered if there was anything deeper. During a clear losing streak in his latter years, his fierce desire to hold on was genuinely surprising; it's easy to forget that. Why his strength of character didn't lead to a greater impetus to win fights conclusively I'll never know. There's a very slight parallel to Larry Holmes, although patience was a recognised virtue of the big man.

It's hard to truly hate Amir, because you sense his long-term boxing future is bleak.

Sod that! Spud knew what he was implying and how it would be seen by the people on here - the first words he typed was:
Tell me something Forum - lets get controversial now

Contreversial? So much so, he had team Khan on his case! He was pulled up and deservedly so. :TU:

I disagree Carlos - tonyevs posted further up, and he has made the point better than Spud.

It's pretty obvious team Khan, Frank Warrén and ITV are pimping Amir as the British golden boy (even though he won a silver) and it's been their promotion of Amir from the beginning.

There is nothing wrong with that, but it does leave the door open for a possible backlash in the future, it just so happens Spud has been the first one to throw it out there

And yes, Hatton is just as bad with his boy next door image and all the antics that walk hand in hand with that, but look at our views of Hatton these days.

Nobody has bullied the guy, he comes on here and makes libellous comments and then complains that people are trying to upset him and his family when they respond.

He is off his rocker.

I have no personal problem with the guy but his constant brown-nosing and:

"I know him..., I went here with ....., I did this...., me me me me me"

..... gets up my fornicating nose.

He should stick to boxing, but it always gets back to him. Carlos was totally justified in my opinion....

Anyway, back to it...

Yeah it sure does sound like you do not have a personal problem with him Mr hook

I'm not sticking up for Spud, but I have my view and have explained it well enough for it be understood - Nothing has been said to change that view.

For the record, I think Spud is a clown and the things you mention irritate most of us, of that I am sure - He is entertaining though, and i've learnt to take what he says with a pinch of salt, it's better to do that than make it personal :)

Anyway, back to boxing :box:
