Not really, If Hatton was as good as he decieved, he would of known dropping his hands and lunging with body shot would of left him open to any counter hook.

Oh come on now Max, he had taken a pasting for pretty much 10 rounds.... surely desperation (he needed a KO to win) and fatigue played some part.

Fatigue was his own fault, Hatton's not technically sound and Is way too reckless.

Witter got put down at an earlier stage in the fight, by a significantly inferior fighter (to Floyd) due to him being defensively shite and its Hatton's technique that is getting criticised.

But Junior has just lost CLEARLY to a good fighter.... not a great fighter. Hatton has beaten plenty of good, solid fighters.

Who has Witter beaten to prove himself... oh yeah, bit of a struggle vs Ndou - who would lose EVERY round to Malignaggi. That great win over Demarcus Corley - whose won so many fights since, Vivian Harries - well for a lot of people money... Manuel Garnacia did a better job vs Lazcano than Harries did - and he's just lost wide to Paul McCloskey.

Cherry picked argueably the greatest fighter of all time - at a weight that suited Floyd, in his back yard.... oh yeah, what a wimp he is.

Oh yes, lets mention Mr shot Castillo.... even if you think Ngoudjio beat him (I don't, but you probably will - or at least now say you will) the fight was close. Ngoujdio definately beat Malignaggi - who hammered Ndou - who gave Witter a right scare.

Carlos Maussa - beat Vivien Harris - who is Witters best win.

There is a pattern forming. Hatton's "cherry picked" opponents, are better than Witters' best.

All the bad habits that Witter has had throughout his career were still there to be seen, the lunging off balance attacks, leaving his chin out to dry, and massively loading up on shots.

Those habits have always been there, and you know what; Bradley's camp probably studied all those fights, and Junior's style, and came up with a plan based on those.

Witter probably underestimated Bradley, and he has always struggled for motivation against decent fighters who aren't advancing his career.

You know what though? That's part of what seperates great fighters from good ones, or not so good ones, the ability NOT to fight down to the level of your opponent, and to blast mediocre opponents out of the ring, or completely outclass then.

Sure, Hatton looked poor against Vilches and Maussa, but did he come close to losing those fights? Did he bollocks. The only blemish against a mediocre opponent came at Welterweight, a weight hatton clearly doesn't belong at.

I had started to wonder whether Witter might be able to give Hatton a hard fight, and who knows, perhaps he could have done, but after seeing him lose to Bradley, I now very much doubt it.

Witter's career is effectively over. He'll never get another title shots, and it's hard to imagine him campaigning at European or domestic level now, and at 34, there's just no time left.

I really thought Junior deserved a shot at Hatton, but at the end of the day, he got beat by someone I've no doubt Hatton would give a thorough pasting, and it has become a moot point.

Junior has never looked truly impressive in any of his performances, including wins over N'Dou, Corley and even, if you take away the final flurry which finished the fight, Harris.

How can a comment on a strand be a headline? The strand title is the headline if anything and the comment was just that, a remark on a forum. It was a knockabout comment amidst other comments on the fight itself. At least I stuck to the topic at hand instead. Hopefully you will get the gist somewhere around the 500 mark.

Witter fought a pressure fighter and didn't like it one bit. That's how you beat Wittter right there. And that is Hatton for all his flaws.

If a megafight doesnt come off early next year (assuming Malignaggi is next up after Lazcano) then Hatton might now go out and beat Bradley - which he surely would - just to prove his point.

After tonight's performance - which was damning for me not because Witter wasn't himself but rather because he was absolutely characteristic - I'd be quite interested in seeing the Rees fight. Against the smaller, wilder, busier man tonight Witter could not up his game and impose himself. He had no answer.

So yeah I agree - debate over.

Well i called a Bradley win on the other thread and it came true!

I was surprised at the lack of serious threat he was being given, with bookies having him 5-1 and Barry McGuigan saying it's a chance for Junior to shine...Claude Abrams picking Witter in 8 etc.

A few points to pick up on, firstly i don't think Witter was undermotivated or took his man lightly, i think Bradley studied the tapes and worked out tactically how to fight him. He is used to hurting his opponents and/or confusing them with his style, neither worked on Bradley.

The scores were wider than the judges had them. The Italian scored 115-112 to Witter, home town score or what?? I think Bradley won handily and had Witter only winning the third i think after 7.

Stylewise i don't know why Witter fights southpaw so much, despite people calling him a switch hitter i never think he looks comfortable at southpaw. Plus, Bradley was finding a home for the right hand which was his honey punch, so why offer him more of a chance by fighting southpaw?

Bradley worked the body deceptively well and Witter was doing well to be in top nick and was panting a bit at the end. I can't recall many decent flush punches he landed all night to claim victory.

And finally...surprised by the cornerwork all night to honest. Dominic Ingle said in the corner that when Witter switched stances he confused Bradley. I didn't agree, as when Witter switched Bradley pounced and landed shots.

And coming out for the last round where was the urgency? "Land three and fours Junior, nothing stupid."

Err...what?!

How about "You need to go and make a serious dent in this guy or even stop him because otherwise you have lost!"

Gutted Junior lost, I had a tenner on a Bradley Pts win at 12/1, but I'd have happily sacrificed the wonga to see Juniors arm raised.

Bradley had the right physical attributes to trouble Junior (a good chin and a good engine-ala Hatton), as Bradley said he'd done his homework on Junior and came up with the perfect gameplan to beat Junior. Congratulations to Bradley, he won the fight IMO and deserved it. I think Bradley will go far.

The Little Fat Mancs prayers have been answered, he's still a coont for not taking the Witter fight.

I hope Mick can work Junior into another mandatory position with a decent fight or 2, this isn't the end for Junior WItter

Witter looked flat last night, as some mentioned, the heat may have contributed, but either way he lost! Some of the gloss has been taken off Bradleys win due to his blatant headbutting, some Christian he is!!


At least Bradley stepped up to fight Witter, Hatton was too scaewd to do it and after 8 years, Hatton has what he wants.

It's a bit like winning a Gold medal but only because the others did not run, Hatton is still a joke!

Witter needs to get back in the ring asap.

Completely gutted for Junior. I don't think he lost as clearly as everyone made out, I think he was clearly ahead upto the KD but Bradley pulled away and Junior didnt pull out the championship rounds as he needed to. He faded and didnt have a plan B. But it was a close call, or maybe I'm just seeing it as a fan but I thought Junior won anywhere between 5-7rounds.

Too much telegraphing shots from Junior at the end of the day. I still reckon he'd have beaten Hatton. And I think Bradley will go onto be something special

I never thought Witter could beat Hatton although the overwhelming condemnation of Hatton post-Mayweather had made me think the gap has closed a bit.

But I reckon Hatton would have won every round against Witter, possibly stopping him late.
