To move around and use the jab? The Taylor rematch showed movement and the jab gives him problems. Joe's footwork and southpaw fast jab will be what wins him the fight against Kelly If It happens.

Probably wouldn't of won anyway, feel Lockett wasted his talent on too many journeymen fights. Not saying he could of been world class but could of achieved a little more like a Euro belt.

We'd been saying for years we'd have preferred him to be matched against better fighters but unfortunately that is the FWSN issue and the poison chalice that is the WBU title because it takes the fighter out of the loop of British/Euro/Domestic scene which is a shame. For eg by having a WBU belt he is ineligible for a euro ranking (only boxrec give him one)

I know for a fact that Gary would have much preferred to go the Euro title route first! I think he's good enough to win a belt still but got matched against the main man in the division, which not many british fighters have been up for in recent years.

Only 3 fights in 2006
Only 2 fights in 2005
Between Sept 04 (Monoghan 2) and Sept 05 = 1 fight v Alan Gray - didn't get offered any fights and was close to just packing it in..

This just isn't right! You have to keep people busy and match them against decent people 4 times per year!! I don't think he's fought 4 times a year since 2001-02 when he stumbled against Tsarenko its almost like SN lost faith in him and couldn't be bothered to match him in decent fights or just forgot about him... he's wanted to fight all along!

Its a tough question to answer.......

Did he go out all guns blazing? Being honest, No he didn't......Sure i'd have loved to see Gary when things were falling apart launch a desperation all out offensive and either get lucky or more likely get flattened.

But some have been a bit harsh in what they've said, because he certainly didn't fold and just quit without taking his lumps either. Its easy for people to be critical, but they weren't the one taking blasts from one of the biggest punchers currently plying his trade.

The answer lays somewhere in the middle. Simple truth is Gary just wasn't anywhere near Pavlik's level. He got an opportunity and gave it a bit of a go, but ultimately got outgunned and hammered. No shame in it, but little glory either.

he was totally outclassed but im disappointed to say he did not go out on his shield.
