Yeah that's a good point, and it's supposed to be around the time of my birthday.

I'll remind you all nearer the time, you can save up.. :)
Whens your birthday?

Im trying to work on going to the reported November Haye fight in London for my birthday, see if she's up for it (the fight that is.. well.. then again).

It's a shame boxingchat always seems to be engaged whenever a thread like this comes up, yet always finds some free time when Mick Hennessy or someone has problems. :-? It's unfair on boxingchat. We should give his boss a ring and tell him to give bc time to get involved in all British Boxing discussions.

So anyway, I think we know what's going to happen.

HBO had to fill the date when Mayweather retired. They will probably get Calzaghe-Jones and HBO will help them promote it.

Yeah been hearing September now, and also been hearing MGM Grand?

That'll be it I reckon, unless Pavlik fights Abraham and looks shite.....

You know they wont be as good as when they were younger, but you would still like to see them for the first time or one more time before they go for good.
you maybe right, but the protmoters won't say that.

Fact is it will be an easy win for Calzaghe, and those who dont know much about boxing will think Calzaghe is some sort of Boxing Legend for beating two [Passed it] Legends: Hopkins and Jones. Which is obviously not the case, in the slightest even.

Agree totally. I'm not a big Calzaghe fan to be honest, but if this fight was made in the UK, i'd sell my ginger stepchilds kidney to get there and see RJJ. I'd even consider going to the states, circumstances permitting.

You know what, I might well do - I'm sick to death of Calzaghe's hypocrisy and preposterous claims, and I can't stand the way the guy fights. I've been kind enough to him.

Well yes, he has as a matter of fact, Didn't he "roll back the years" against Trinidad? That'll have to be Joe's line anyway. Shit maybe I could get a job as his press officer, now that he's fired Frank and boxingchat!

He could do with some decent PR, that's for sure. Once I got this email from something purporting to represent Calzaghe, a website or something, where he claimed that we were all wrong to say he wouldn't fight abroad, he'd been fighting in the other guy's backyard all his life because he's Welsh - yeah, Robin Reid's backyard is Newcastle. I sent it back to whoever saying it was effing ridiculous and sort it out. They came back with a smartasre reply, so I said look, I'm being kind ripping you a new asrehole here, I could be doing it in print so know your role. Absolutely pathetic.

That's so poor it must have been one of Joe's mates, running his website - even SN could do better than that.
And Enzo does Joe no favours with his interviews, as he comes across as the most annoying know-it-all in the history of the world - I'm always right, everyone else is wrong. The worlds greatest trainer, ever - the worlds greatest singer, and probably the worlds greatest cocksmith too, if you ask him.

Re Enzo, it's him who suffers most from the Warren split because he would never have any regard whatsoever were it not for the opportunities Warren presented for his fighters - thing is, people smell a few extra quid and they get all hot under the collar and forget stuff like that

Glyn,
You're absolutely right.
I also fear for Maccaroni Pryce and Rees and their careers now.
Contractd to SN - but will Wazza give a fornicate about them now ?

Pryce is the only fighter who has been matched properly from that whole stable.

And that has been by accident.

yet he is not and has not been a world champion where Rees and Enzo have - long live accidental matchmaking, some might say

Pryce has been largely busy throught his career, matched tough and shown heart and courage in 50-50 encounters.

You cannot say the same for Rees, Lockett, Maccarinelli or even Calzaghe.

I like all of the above as fighters, but Pryce's fights come to mind quicker than his more esteemed contemporaries.

Pity he was a bit of a rascal early on, he may well be a leading light for FW now.

Thrown in at the deep end do you mean?
That happens to many fighters and only a small few make it out the other side. I'd call it bad management.
In fact Bradley gets chucked in to lose on many occasions, but either keeps coming back or winning

Deep end? Maybe, like I said, accidental management that has actually served Bradley well.

He's tough, rounded, adaptable and digs deep in a crisis.

Yep, he's defo been thrown in to lose on occasion. Power to him for surviving, mostly.

Better that, than pampered to death.

Better a badly matched former world champion than a well matched contender who never gets there, I reckon - that's what it should be about, winning titles, not safe matches that pay mortgages. I'd rather be thrown in as a loser and win than never get the chance to stretch myself

The point being that if u get thrown in as a loser it is very rare that you do win
Pryce is very muh the exception rather than the rule
