I am pretty certain Taylor wants the title back and the chance to do so will certainly motivate the man. Froch is gagging to win a title so he will step up his game and train harder than ever before. Cant see it going the distance, if it happens, with both men looking to take the other out. My guess is Taylor will be too quick for Froch and I see Taylor KOing Froch about rounds 5 to 7. Froch hasnt fought a true world class opponent while Taylor has a few times now. No I dont see Froch taking over from Joe Calzaghe. He wont beat Taylor, Pavlik, Kessler or Bute and if he wants to be a champion these are the people he will have to face. The Nottingham bighead is heading for a fall. Taylors manager will be right "who the fornicate is Carl Froch?

Jermain Taylor prefers to fight Lacy
Speaking to a local Arkansas newspaper, former WBC middleweight title holder Jermain Taylor has let it slip that he'd personally prefer to fight Jeff Lacy, than take a dangerous title fight with Nottingham, England's Carl 'the cobra' Froch.
“I’ve got to get a belt back,” Taylor said. “But I definitely want to fight Jeff first. After Jeff, whoever is after that, it doesn’t matter.” DiBella said he is negotiating with both Don King, Lacy’s promoter, and Hennessy.
“We have options, and we’re going to play our options,” said DiBella, who said he doesn’t want to get rid of either option a month before the WBC title purse bid.
However Taylor's promoter, who also recently got into a war of words with Froch, now seems to be a little more open to the idea of a title fight, if nothing more than a safety net if Lacy loses:-
“What if Lacy loses or gets hurt before the purse bid ?” DiBella said. “We’re going to either fight for the WBC title or Jeff Lacy. But we have to look at everything.”
Lacy, who has been less than stellar in recent years could easily get battered by KO artist Colombia’s Epifanio Mendoza (28-5-1, 24 KOs) who smashed Rubin Williams in 1 round recently.
Rubin Williams also fought Jeff Lacy for his IBF title a couple of years later and it took Lacy 7 rounds to dispatch of 'Mr Hollywood' as Williams likes to be known.

So Taylor wants to fight Lacy in November. Yes, he really wants the belt.
WBC will probably put Froch & Inkin forward again to contest the belt.
Either Inkin isn't fit to fight anymore OR his promoters won't let him lose away from home. Will Froch end up fighting Inkin in Germany? Will he be given the vacant title & defend vs the next best rated, available contender?

Major props to froch for activly chasing any title oppertunity he is given first he did anything to get a credible opponent both times Inikin pulled out then he goes all out to make the fight with Taylor, what ever people think the result may be I think its clear that froch thinks he can win the fight.

Surely Inkin is out of the picture as far as the WBC are concerned ? I can't believe he'd be allowed to contest the WBC world title after two pull outs on the trot against the same opponent.

I haven't seen anything from Froch to suggest he can beat Taylor. He'll get found out if this comes off. Froch is good but not good enough for the top level I have always maintained that. I'll happily be proved wrong though.

The admirable thing about Froch is he's not looked for an easy champion to pickoff. If this matchup happens he's up against a world class guy who will undoubtedly present a very stiff argument. Win or lose (I'm leaning towards a win for Froch) he's prepared to face the best, and everyone on here can truly see where he stands in the world picture.

There's no point people complaining that he hasn't fought anyone at this level, therefore he shouldn't fight Taylor or has no chance.
The only way to get the top-tier experience is to get in there and have a go.
I don't think he'll disgrace himself, far from it. Very competitive match-up IMO.

To be fair (and this is not to make any excuses) in the 3rd round of the fight Froch broke his hand and disclocated his thumb after hitting Magee on top of his head. When Froch went back to his corner at the end of the round he told Rob McCracken that he was feeling physically sick such was the pain that the hand caused him.
I think you can take this story as being genuine and a mitigating factor in explaining Froch's performance against Magee - for we saw what a fit Froch did to Robin Reid (albeit, a past-it Robin Reid). Regardless, Froch's performance against Reid was clinical, ruthless and nearly punch perfect.
And in respect of Magee, I definitely think he goes down too easy - but no one else other than Froch has kept him down.

He snapped his thumb at the base clean.
I saw it sag as he took his glove off. It was awful.
He got it pinned by a specialist in a private hospital.
