Yeah,not a lot of boxing action happened in Rapid City South Dakota(The Black Hills aka the island in the plains").
Earnie Shavers had one of his early professional fights there around 1969.
Wonder why he had to come all the way out there.
As far as fighters from Wyoming,I think his name was Bull Young,the son of a rancher who fought Jess Willard and was hit with a big right hand and later died,but I think his head hit the ring apron was what killed him.

this topic was basically dead but today espn named roy jones the pick from florida. this was an easy pick but espn didn't even list it on their boxing page. you had to go to the map to see it. all the other fighters were at least named and some had an article about them. the media still loves roy after all these years. :roll:

No notables were given for WV. Fitzie Fitzpatrick is one they overlooked.
