Max my boy - whilst Calzaghe's win over Lacy was indeed great (and under rated by many on here) it is not as great as Hatton's over Tsyzu.

Tsyzu - all time great, at the time pfp top 3 just spanked Judah.
Lacy - good fighter, dangerous puncher.

To be fair Lacy was actually considered rightly or wrongly P4P top10 at the time by many. Lacy was prime, Tyszu was a 3-4 round fighter. Its swings and roundabouts. How about comparing the BHOPS win to the Tyszu win though. BHOPs fresh (I use the term loosely) off beating Tarver, Wright and going 50-50 with Taylor. Tyszu fresh off beating Mitchell. BHOPs threw 10 punches a round, Tyszu could only fight for 5 rounds

I think Lacy was considered as a guy that would be in the p4p top ten when he beat Calzaghe.

This possible fight with Maskeev is a good one, what do people expect. A decent fight in the onward progression, I see absolutely no harm in taking this fight.

I think he should be commended for taking the fight, he could have very well started easily with a light punching HW who has been around the block a bit but had no decent wins at top level but he has gone straight into a fight against a live opponent.

One of my fave fights last year was Andrew Golota v Mike Mollo

Before you laugh, yes I know Mike Mollo is garbage and that Golota is slow as hell and all that

But he didn't half show a bit of class with the way he threw some of those shots. He hit Mike Mollo with some nice combos and showed me there was still abit of life in him yet.

Probably too old and slow to be a viable opponent for David Haye but he is just a name to be thrown in

I kept asking, have the fighters signed anything. Obviously they didn't. The whole thing could have been made up. We've had threads that have gone on and on before, that were based on incorrect info ("Jamie Moore Targets Pavlik At Middleweight!") and this was probably another one.

I think its when these things turn up on the boxrec sceduals it gives them some legs and it fits as a logical opponent at this stage of his carrer, even though it may not be so now its still a bloody good idea.

Maskaev-- so chinny that full-bloodied wallops from hitters Rahman & Peter in 2 of his last 3 fights couldn't knock him off his feet.

Huge strong guy coming to win by kayo, ex-wbc champ and some are complaining. Unfrickinbelievable!

Looks like the fight was never meant to be, but Maskaev is credible. Who are Danny and Audley fighting? Cahhhhmooooon.

Faded heavyweight names Hasim Rahman and James Toney meet in an overdue but frankly yawn-inducing rematch on Wednesday in California, scheduled for 12.
These two met in Atlantic City in March 2006 and battled to a quickly forgettable 12-round draw, with many feeling Rahman's more consistent work, in contrast to Toney's flashier bursts, gave him the edge. At stake was Rahman's WBC title but the Baltimore man lost it a fight later to Oleg Maskaev on a last-round stoppage and has struggled to impress since, although he's won four out of four. Last time out in November he forced a ponderous 10-round stoppage of the gutsy but feather-fisted Zuri Lawrence, who pushed him harder than anyone could have anticipated beforehand and was actually ahead on one of the cards at the stoppage.
Not to be outdone, Toney also looked awful in his last outing in May last year when he barely outscored New York clubfighter Danny Batchelder on a 10-round split decision. It was only his third appearance since the Rahman draw - and his only win. He lost twice to Samuel Peter, of course. Toney's cause going into this is hardly helped by a six month ban he copped for steroid abuse (again) after Batchelder.
He's not fought in the last 14 months.
You know, Toney hits 40 next month and such inactivity will obviously hinder a man whose conditioning never inspired anyone even at his best. Rahman is five years younger and looks to have more left, although he is clearly past his best himself.
Expect the man once heralded as "The Rock" to get home in an uninspiring, rather money-grabbing affair.

Who was Holyfield's heavyweight debut? Wasn't it a badly faded Pinklon Thomas who was clubbed mercilessly around the ring for 5 or 6 rounds.

But Thomas BADLY faded? Prior to his fight before he was considered the #2 Heavyweight and one of only two fighters that some US Journo's gave a hope of beating Tyson.

He was only 30.
