Bromberg scored the fight 11 rounds for Young, and 4 for Ali.

But what does Lester Bromberg know about boxing.

LOL

Is that the old FARTwho said Liston would drop Ali in one?

Dear Mod

Can you forbid granberry from further mischief in this thread?

collins(TheOne) demands that all grovel for Ali.

When they step outside the grounds of their Church of The Religion of Ali they will find that is not the case.

That disturbs them mightily.

LOL

Au contraire. I was asking the mod to put an end to your intellectually vacuous and emotionally retarded repartee...

Try not to screw it up this time, Buzz.

You know how granberry hates it when you mess with his posts.

And like Drake, he's not dead, only sleeping.

Gran is in his hammock till the great Armadas come,
(Capten, art tha sleepin' there below?)
Slung atween the round shot, listenin' for the drum,
An' dreamin arl the time o' Plymouth Hoe.
Call him on the deep sea, call him up the Sound,
Call him when ye sail to meet the foe;
Where the old trade's plyin' an' the old flag flyin'
They shall find him ware an' wakin', as they found him long ago!

Well, this topic seems to be an area where I disagree with Granberry.

He seems to think Jimmy Young would have an excellent chance against Smokin' Joe.

I think prime Frazier would hunt down and ultimately destroy Jimmy Young.

Cuteness only goes so far when your liver is being pulled out.

Agree with the earlier observation that Frazier is the worst possible matchup of all '70s heavies for Young.

Joe brought considerably more unrelenting pressure to the affair than Shavers, Foreman and the like.

Thank you for the rational post.

So are you saying it is irrational to believe that Frazier breaks Young down and stops him?

I reluctantly have to agree with Granberry because of the knowledge he gained by being an actual combatant in the squared circle.

I bet yes.

No, but the previous discussion almost seemed like that was the only conclusion, and there just isn't enough evidence in their careers to support this as being anything other than a very competitive fight. Late stoppage by Frazier seems reasonable, but so does a close decision. Young at his best was very hard to hit let alone break down.

What does "foresight" have to do a discussion of a fight that would have happened 30+ years ago?

Prime Frazier beats prime Young. Joe puts too much pressure on him and breaks him down. Young did train at Fraziers gym and they may have sparred. I never saw it during the time I trained there. I did watch Young train for 3 months for Forman. He had a big 280 lb sparring partner all the time so he could practice the rope a dope like Ali used on Foreman.

If one (like this "FanOfThGranMan") should decide to engage in such rare and valuable terminology...PLEASE look up it's spelling and it's meaning before making an attempt to utilize. Thus saving yourself needless painful and enduring embarrassment.

I'm afraid to hear what G.I. is going to say about this spelling calamity.

I'm busy shaking my head over the mistakes in your post, Buzz. Not that I expect too much from someone unable to make the childhood distinction between, 'your,' &, 'you're.'*

*To be fair, I'd wager more adults than not also fail to make this most basic distinction.

Actually I'm on the cutting edge of evolving that particular rule, and willfully disregarding the additional use of the ' when "you are" can safely be assumed.

Were you struggling to decide what I meant? If so I can go primal and revert back to old ways for the dinosaurs in our midst.

It's my contribution to the green movement.

More double-talk & gibberish in the face of anything even vaguely reminiscent of criticism...how surprising

I look forward to your next post, I never know what's coming...whether it be musical stylings of the 60's, the space-time continuum & how quantam physics apply to the right hand of Bert Cooper, or anythign in-between --- only thing we can be sure of is it will be a tangent-riddled pile of steaming irrelevance, as per usual programming.
