Froch's promotional team are fornicating useless, almost as bad as Junior Witters

X) So, how are we gonna get a fight with Calzaghe/Hatton??

Y) Well, we could do a press release that only the old women on boxrec will take any notice of, saying they are ducking us

X) Brilliant!! that will work for sure

Y) Yeah man!

X) One thing tho, havent we been trying that, and only that, for the last 4 years?

Y) ummmmmmmm yes

X) And we are no closer now than we were then, right?

Y) ummmmmmm thats correct

X) well, why dont we...

Y) just shut up you

and so on

Froch is a very dangerous fight for JC.

Fact.

But there is no incentive for calzaghe now, he should have fought him 2 year ago!

A friend of mine said that he thinks Froch would beat JC because he only managed to scrape through his last fight..........

LOL

That is the problem today, if people can't see the enormous gulf in class between Froch and Hopkins then we have no hope have we

Froch should just concentrate on his own career, there's plenty of career defining fights out there for him after Pascal. Taylor, Kessler and Pavlik are all out there waiting for Carl, what about the likes of Brahmer or Abraham? Carl doesn't need JC on his CV to have a good career he should just forget about him.

He should have loked at the long term, not beefed on about how much more Calzaghe would have earned fighting him. Froch is a very talented boxer, has a superb amateur record and so far hes done very well as a pro but that doesnt mean he is going all the way. I think any argement about Froch beating Calzaghe is not only flawed but rediculous as well. He just doesnt have the speed and movement Calzaghe has, so his only chance would be the KO, and Joe can take a punch, get up from it, and go on to win. They are in different leagues so its just about as daft as Khan thinking he could beat Pacman. Froch seems to have a similar mentality to Khan, arrogance and a lack of respect for other fighters. He could end up on his back just like Khan as well if he doesnt show enough respect for Pascal. That copycat Naz style will let him down at the top level because he just doesnt have the speed. I keep saying it, the first rules in boxing are keep your hands up and defend yourself at all times, and Froch doesnt. Pascal isnt fighting Froch just for the money, he wants the title and will give Froch a hard time. If Froch was fighting Kessler I would give him no chance, Kessler would knock him out cold. Thats another thing Kessler couldnt handle Calzaghes speed so how the eff could Froch. Listen, Froch is the pupil, Calzaghe is the master, he needs to show him more respect.
That's a ridiculous post Waylon. Sonny Liston was the master, Ali was the pupil, Tszyu was the master, Hatton was the pupil, B-Hop was the master, Taylor was the pupil, Don Curry was the master, Honeyghan was the pupil

With regards your comment saying 'Froch has a similar mentality to Khan, arrogance and lack of respect for other fighters' you could also say 'Froch has a similar mentality to Ali, SRL, Naz, etc. arrogance and lack of respect for other fighters'.

I find the notion that Froch has no chance of beating Calzaghe 'flawed and ridiculous'. Calzaghe has been put down by alot smaller punchers than Froch and Carl is an excellent relentless finisher. To say Calzaghe and Froch are in different leagues is equally absurd as saying he has no chance of winning IMO.

I'd pick Froch over Calzaghe and Kessler, hopefully we'll get to see the Kessler fight at some point (no chance of seeing the JC fight now, he's on the seniors tour)
I bloody well knew my post would get you going Stuart. I get your point pupils do sometimes beat the master but as you say there isnt any chance of the two meeting so it will never be settled in the ring. As you say we may see Froch against Kessler and that would be, potentially anyway, one hell of a fight. By the way your defense of Froch on here is far superior to his in the ring. LOL

Froch is at an entirely different stage of his career!

Calzaghe is almost 10 years older, is plagued with injuries and coming to the end of a long career, Froch started late and has a good 6-7 years left as he doesn't have much wear and tear.

Calzaghe gave Reid a shot at his title earlier in his career, but at this stage, Froch simply hasn't done enough to warrant a shot. It's not Carl's fault, his career started way later than Calzaghes, they are virtually from different eras.

Let it go, it's not going to happen, and whilst there is much to criticize in Calzaghes career, not facing Froch is not reason to do so. Froch isn't big enough to warrant the risk he entails, which is fairly sizeable.

Froch should focus his energies in getting Kessler in the ring, not Calzaghe.
Come on James, 10 years older ? Froch is 32 next and Joe is what, 37? thats five years or so older James... hopkins was 6 years older than Joe at 43 !

Froch has had a broken thumb against magee, a ruptured knuckle operation following porras/Barney , a torn bicep against westerman and now a cruciate donor ligament op which required 5 months recovery. Joe has had nothing like that to deal with to date, not even close.

Froch has been ducked by loads of people, Dodson missed a few dates for whatever reason, then there was the Inkin affair.. then we read about the Taylor affair who picked 'Wednesday Night Fighter' Jeff Lacy (who's had 4 x points decisions in his last 4..inc Manfredo!)

I just want to see the guy get some big names before he knocks it all on the head.

Win, Lose or draw i think he will be good to watch.

2 years ago, Froch had barely won his Lonsdale outright and was calling out Joe since he Ko'ed Damon Hague.

It would be sadism to put Froch In with Calzaghe.

Pascal is a talented fighter - based on form Froch should win but its not an easy fight by any means. Calzaghe is just looking to add to his retirement fund - as james said the biggest paydays for the lowest reward. Admittedly I would have liked to see Froch-Calzaghe rather than fights with Bika/Manfredo/Ashira etc but lets be honest Froch has beaten no-one of note on the world stage.(Reid was shot IMO)
Some good points Panther. But a slight contradiction don't you think?

I mean does anyone know who Ashira, Bika or Manfredo beat at World Level to deserve a fight?

For starters they had 0, 1 and 4 fights respectively at Supermiddle before climbing in that ring.. all little people.
I suppose you're right about that mate. And TBH I'm on the same level as you in that I'd love to see a Calzaghe-Froch fight much more than Jones or Hopkins again. But Calzaghe said himself on the phone to Carl that "its all about the money." Manfredo was pretty famous from the contender and so ensured Joe a fat payday for little risk. Bika was brought in to make Calzaghe look good as his come forward style was supposed to be made for Joe....and Ashira was meant to be a blow-out really. All I'm saying is that I can see where Joe is coming from - why fight a dangerous, big-punching supermiddle when he can make similar money for fighting the Manfredos of the world. Doesn't make it right but thats boxing these days

Sadly through injuries and poor promotion froch has missed his chance

Even if he wins the WBC. So what? Calzaghe already got it and dropped it

Battle of Britain? Maybe on boxrec, but Eubank v Benn it isn't. Calzaghe is sports personality of the year and has been on Jonathon Ross. Froch is....

The only thing that Froch can do is hope Pavlik gets past Hopkins, make Pavlik a huge offer( shouldnt be too hard seeing as though MH 'offered' Joe millions, stage the fight in the USA and 'smoke his boots'

Failing this unlikely scenario, he will never fight Calzaghe

Yes, the list of people that Calzaghe has faced is highly supsicious. However, I doubt Bika / Ashira baulked at what they were being paid and the potential for options. If Froch sees himself above them in terms of negotiations then he cant expect to be treated the same. What I am saying is that if Bika/Ashira accepted £50,000 plus options and Froch rejected somwhat simialr terms (£100,000+, plus options) talk of worthiness of opponents becomes mute in my view

Yeah it did as well as others on this thread.

I just think that the age old 'Risk:Reward ratio' is not an acceptable reason for avoiding a fight (especially from a fans perspective). It justifies Hatton having those long procession of subpar opponents at the MEN, it justifies Mayweather and DLH avoiding Margarito, Hatton avoiding Witter, it justifies the Light-Middle scenario from a while ago.... (the list could go on and on).

If the fans are just going to accept that the reason the best fights aren't going to be made is because of the Risk:Reward ratio, then we may as well go back to the Sky Sports - Sports Network days, of Harrison-Kedebe and the ilk.
