I hope Jonno makes a serious wedge from his next few fights.
If I were him, I'd look to defend the belt and achieve that.
I just think the World route is a step too far.
I cannot think of a more deserving fighter than Jonno to achieve this.
When I think back to firstly his decision to head home and leave Wincobank to be with his family, and then the serious car crash that effectively left him with a career ending injury, I don't think anyone could have foreseen this.
Great performance, great result.
Well done Jonno.

What a shot. Very nice lad is Jono - hope he makes a good few quid to set him up for the rest of his days so he can then come and work for BBN!

Can't beat a bit of Duke

I thought it was a decent enough card and I enjoyed most of the fights. Fairplay to Thaxton he was outboxing Melero anyway and landed that cracking right hand.

As for the 'behind the scenes' dressing room stuff it was pretty cringeworthy. Look forward to that new boxing magazine show on saturday aswell!

I thought the best bit of Duke was when he claimed McIntosh pulled it out of the bag vs Spartacus - in a fight he was winning and seemed on course for a points win.

Re: Danny Williams - well from the looks of the ITV start up, seems he has signed with Hennessey - The ITV start up showcased 4 boxers... Witter, Froch, Thaxton and Williams... common link = Hennessey?

:DDD :DDD Well done Jono!!

I must admit to a few prefight doubts to how this one would go after seeing JT's last fight (although Romanov is obviously a class act) despite seeing that Thaxton was firmly 'in the zone' in the build up, but he dominated proceedings and that was a brutal KO. The perfect start to Hennessys tenure on ITV.... it's a match made in Heaven IMO.

Khan quite rightly kopped some flak IMO, Amir was very publicly saying he was the best in Britain and then him and FW pulled out of the mandated purse bids for the British title at the last minute :witzend: :witzend: and they done everything possible to worm out of the fight. British Boxing yet again suffered form a 'allegedly special', lets hope the Murray-Khan fight doesn't suffer the same fate :box:

Thoroughly enjoyed the McIntosh-Spartacus fight, it was a 50-50 fight and another piece of excellent matchmaking from BIG Mick. I thought the stoppage may have been abit early considering the type of fighter that Spartacus is, but he stopped throwing punches after the knockdown and I can see why the ref did call a halt to the fight. I'd love to see a rematch when Spartacus has got a full training camp behind him. Respect to Danny for taking the fight in only his 8th contest, that's the kind of attitude that the sport has been missing in certain areas :TU:

All in all an excellent nights boxing IMO, fans happy, promoter happy, boxers happy, broadcasters happy. Long may last night excellent start continue

I think that bloody backstage interviewer gave McIntosh more trouble than Spartacus. McIntosh seemed genuinely bemused by the bloke, during the two encunters.

Good show, definitely. Some good KOs and knockdown punches.

I totally agree that was one of the stupidest questions I've ever heard to a boxer who has just sparked his opponent. It smacked to me of the interviewer wanting to take some of the limelight away from the victorious boxer :shame: , much in the same way as that yank prick (Larry Merchant???) who was only BIGGING up Vital Klitschko to Lennox Lewis in the postfight interview after their life and death struggle :shame:

BINGO! :oo What a punch from Thaxton and what a way to win the European title. It doesn't get much better than that.

Well done to Thaxton. Good to see him in such positive mood talking of world titles, but I'd like to see him make a defence or two on ITV. It must be possible, and Jon , despite winning in devasting fashion was using his brain and sticking to tactics rather than just try and bulldoze he way through.

Great to see a 16 year pro get his pay off. :)
