I was thinking deeply about this today. As a pure fan, I actually don't give two hoots who wins, but I lean towards Hatton. What troubles me is if Hatton DOES win, everyone's going to be attributing it to his liaison with Mayweather Snr, which would annoy me because it would make Floyd Mayweather Snr the 2008 version of 2006's Freddie Roach or 2005's Buddy McGirt i.e. the new hype trainer that everyone overrates.

No, Hatton did get close against the pretty boy, but Cortez stopped him doing anything when he got there..Floyd helped I admit and would have beaten Hatton anyway but if that cretin wasnt in charge Hatton would have been more competetive!

How does that translate to the 22nd?? Well if Hatton is at that level then he beats Paulie 117-111!! If Hatton has slided then its closer...if Hatton is shot it the likes of Malignaggi who will be beating him forst!!

Pocket - you are a very knowledgable boxing fan - but anyone who kids themselves that Hatton had the remotest chance against PBF is in my view is barking mad - Another thing for you and your fellow Hatton fans - which incidentally I am still one - but its a good question for you all -

Is Ricky Hatton a fair and clean fighter who plays by all the rules - or does anyone out there think sometimes he might bend the rules to his advantage and thus whoever is reffing his fights needs t be a strong referee?

I personally don't know how people can say Hatton's a shot fighter. Yeah, sure, he's slipped a little bit but going off his performance against Lazcano suggests to me that he's still got a bit in the tank. He won every single round against Lazcano in my view and even though he did get clipped, I don't recall him ever being in the type of trouble that some people on here say he was. He was literally shook for a second twice in the fight - that doesn't really concern me as I feel that Hatton was always in control. Nevertheless, I do feel that Ricky is ripe for a KO loss if he continues after this - it will probably be PacMan on Oscar to do it though, not Paulie, unless Hatton can't sustain the pace, which I can't see happening when going off his last performance in Manchester.

Decent comeback fight, but should have done better.

IMO, Calzaghe is a better boxer than Hatton. But hatton deserves more credit and respect than calzaghe.

Hatton went Prime V Prime against a Legend (Mayweather). He may have lost and got KO'd, but even then, he tried his best, no lies, no BS, no Hype, he was the underdog and went in.

Calzaghe never has done that, and never will.

Lazcano was no world beater - I never proclaimed him to be, but neither is Malignaggi. It was a very decent performance from Hatton. At least he showed me that he's still got the fire in his belly. I think he will beat Malignaggi.
