Anyway, it's hard to see Barrera losing to Khan, even at this stage. It's only a year and a bit since his UD loss to Pac. Barrera early KO.

Wow, that's an interesting one, a very calculated gamble, and they're obviously banking on Khan battering the smaller man from a safe range...you couldn't get Barrera at a much later stage of his career, it's true. But this is an excellent match up.

Even so, it is still a good name for Khan to have on his record.

Even if he was moderately shot, it wouldn't matter.

In all the years of Barrera preparing for his long line of huge fights, getting to the ring, having wars with fellow greats, winning some, losing some, leaving it all in the ring, showing immense skill, bravery, heart.. he'll now be preparing for... Amir Khan, a guy almost marmalised by Willie Limond, brutalised in one round by a limited slugger, with no defence, chin or anything to trouble Barrera.

He won't believe his luck!

Credit where it's due, it's a great fight for Amir at this stage in his career. I think Amir's speed and workrate will trouble MAB at his age but you'd have to make him favourite.

IF they can keep this bill together, then it will be a great nights boxing

Come off it, this is a fantastic match. Casamayor is older, so is Marquez and Nate Campbell. Any of those, plus Barrera, would be a fabulous fight. I hope it's right!

I don't think Khan will win but I wouldn't say MAB "hung tough" with Pacquiao. Seemed a fairly passive fight considering the 2 fighters. 18 months can also be a long time when you have had 70 fights, are 35 years old and stepping up in weight to fight someone pretty huge for a lightweight. I would not be shocked if Khan pulled this off.

You dont go from being KO'd in less than a minute by Breidis Prescott, to beating Osin Fagan... to fighting Marco Antonio Barrerra.

MAB has made more returns to glory than just about any other modern fighter I can think of.

Not saying Khan doesn't have the tools to beat him, but it's a very risky business for Warren, allowing him near your still fragile prospect for a potential 12 rounds.

I can see the sense in making it - MAB much smaller, much older, lot of wear and tear, big name. Just use size and speed to beat him. MAB looked bloated above featherweight, he once admitted he was a natural super flyweight (his prime fighting weight while he was young, apparently).

Khan wins this fight in my book. He wins by stoppage in the middle rounds.

Barrera was a truly great fighter, but he nowhere near the fighter he was. He has a great chin and I can see a really great fight. Cannot wait.

Khan is simply too fast for him, to young and too agressive.

Incidentally, Barrerra is 35 in a day or two -- but he still knows way too much for Amir Khan. The idea of him losing to Amir is completely unfathomable. Its impossible for me to comprehend any serious boxing fan thinking Amir will be the usual 'too fast, too big, too skilled' and all the other strange misplaced tags that are put on him.

If Khan is against Barerra and the fight actually comes off then as much as I criticise fwank, he has signed a great fight. Could be a good bill if you add enzo-banks and cook and mitchell in competitive bouts.

Hmm, hard one to call this.

Barrera was a living legend, and he did still hang with Pacman for 12 rounds, although I think Pacman could have gotten him out of there if he really forced the issue, it was one of those 'silent contract' fights, where Barrera never pushed Pacman unduly, and Pacman allowed him to keep his dignity.

However, he is old, and has been in a slow decline for the last five years, and has been inactive, which is a big enemy for a mexican fighter, they always seem to blow up massively with a layoff.

Khan may be just too fast and too big - it's a clever piece of matchmaking, provided of course Khan doesn't get sparked out.

I am a serious boxing fan and I tell you here and now that Khan will stop Barrera (if the fight ever happens)
