well it was in all the sunday papers at least , thats why i checked on here , where boxrec also had it .

You're right - seems strange that we're only hearing from Taylor's trainer about it. The "if things go as planned" comment seems to suggest there may still be some doubt. This might be a case of Froch's local rag jumping the gun.

Excellent news! I hope Taylor is serious about taking the fight to Carl and it's not just a diversionary tactic. This is gonna be a fight of the year contender, come on Frochy!!

I'm starting to think Taylor will win this one? I just can't be confident with Froch up at this level whilst he continues to block punches with his face, especially against someone who throws good straight shots with decent speed and power like Taylor does.

I can see Froch taking him out late in England with Taylor's dodgy stamina and questionable belief but I think at home in the states he may tough out those final rounds

Taylor is a stylist and Froch may struggle with that. Forget points, just get in there and smash his face off, its the only way.

What do we reckon TV wise on this one?

Obvious answer is on itv, but would they be willing to show Froch in the middle of the night. And surely a British world champion defending his title on a big American show makes TOO much sense for itv to show it :x

I'd go for Setanta probably, but it would be a real shame if it wasn't on itv1

i don't think he is a stylist, particularly. i think he's very athletic but lacks 'intuitive' or intrinsic boxing skills. he's got as surfeit of athletic over stylistic talents IMO.

I think we need to be realistic here. First bell goes and a team of lawyers, WBC officials and promoters jump into the ring, and then begin legal proceedings. Froch and Taylor remain rooted in their corners. Forever.

I'm just repeating announcements as I see them. It's not ME that needs to make up his mind. It's a bit odd that Taylor himself confirms it on Friday, followed by his publicist on Saturday, only for it to be denied by Froch's people on Monday. I think the lot of them should shut up until they've signed on the dotted line.

Anyway - who makes a better Widow Twanky - Froch or Taylor?

Pascal was without doubt Froch`s best opponent to date ..
That fight highlighted that Froch isn`t the thunderous puncher he was made to look against the washed up, lower weight or lower skilled guys that make up his record.

I just see a clear win for Taylor.
Froch can be very lazy when not pushed/forced, and on home soil Taylor will have the advantage of being able to wait to be the counterpuncher ... something Froch works best from.

Whatever the discussions are on this thread lets keep to reality - the fight will be announced formally - it is not a Hennessy Sports promotion - at best and to save face in my view Taylors promoters might just have a little line stating "In association with Hennessy Sports" - it is the American side of things that have signed and sealed this fight.

When mentioning TV - Setanta and Sky already know they are onto a bargain - they know "Meaty Mick" will want to secure some finance and it would not surprise me at all if the TV in the UK is not announced until the final minute - Sky have their box office stars they can afford and Setanta are almost bursting with the amount they have spent so either channel are going to want Froch v Taylor at the cheapest possible price and trust me they will drive a very hard bargain indeed - and thats if Meaty Micks contract with ITV allows another channel to show the fight.
