Canelo got lucky the first time, Golovkin never actually hit him clean. His best shots werejust a little target or Canelo turned his head to roll them. It only takes 1 to land flush.
You don't go 12 rounds by being just lucky.

Defensive prowess has a lot to do with it.

I don't disagree, Canelo is a natural counter puncher so he has a great ability in reading his opponents timing. I don't think he can go 12 more rounds without eating a clean one though.
.
Maybe not.

But that doesn't mean that Canelo will fall apart if he gets hit with a solid punch.

In most cases, to get elite fighters out of there, you need to hit them with combinations. Quickly follow up a big shot with a series of them.

Any fighter can get hit hard once. But getting those finishers in can be very very difficult against the world's top guns.

Groves is 11/4 for the stoppage and 13/8 for a decision win over Smith. Don't really see Smith beating a healthy Groves so take your pick with those 2 options imo.

The 4/1 on Donaire definitely seems interesting. I'll wait to see how he looks at the weight first but he didn't exactly look shot against Frampton and his only losses have come to (in my opinion) better fighters than Burnett.

Got 7/2 on Golovkin by decision last year. Only 15/8 this time.

As a point of interest, Mexico's national sports book has Golovkin at +210 to win a decision. A little better return than you're getting.

Those odds should begin to rocket Friday when heavy betting on the fight begins in Mexico.

Right now the odds of Canelo winning a decision are the same, +210.

So there's no evidence at the books that Canelo is a shoo-in to win a tainted decision, as so many contend.

Made my first bet on Canelo/GGG II: Like 1u or $100 the Under 11½ at a whopping +220 with Canelo off the horse meat and GGG feeling like he got robbed the first time. I think these two hard hitters will both be more aggressive rather than lay back or play it safe this time. Canelo will be without PEDs, or at least the same PEDs, plus GGG is even older now. Abel Sanchez is saying GGG will go to the body more and wants a liver shot knockout. I did very well with the under in the Ward/Kovalev rematch, which was also priced very well after the first fight went the distance. Put some on GGG by KO/TKO/DQ at +310 too. Also tempted to bet GGG moneyline again around the -150 price.

You received decent odds for a draw.

Mexican book lists it at 17-1.

Internet book I often use only offering 15-1.

I had a great weekend last week and won all three bets and they were my first bets in a while. I bet on Khan points, Shawn Porter points and my first ever UFC bet on the bloke who beat Darren Till.

This week I'm lumping big (well big for me) and I'm putting £1,000 on Lemieux at 1/2. Unless he picks up an injury, I cannot see anyway he loses this fight. All I can see is a one sided beating.

I'm sorely tempted to bet on GGG to win, but I'm gonna hold back. Those judges make me nervous.

Ooft that's a sizeable bet mate fingers crossed for you. I'd be shocked if he didn't win, Spike level of opposition recently(excluding Douglas or including him I suppose) has been seriously dire. Lemieux is a few levels above him I think.

Yep, my biggest bet today was within 7 rounds in the spike Vs lemiuex fight.

I backed the Jaime Munguia fight within 6 rounds at 6/5. Just waiting for the GGG fight. Done the draw but only £20. So up quite a few even if it don't come off.

I forgot Roman was on. I stuck a score on him by KO. The inplay odds at end of round 3 was 1/3 for ko. I ended up stucking 100 on to win 133. Not usually my type if bet but given how bad the cut was on his opponents face it seemed like free money.

I had GGG the winner by 4 rounds. So I thought the draw had a great chance. Almost landed my 20/1 bet.

Edit* if one of the judges gave GGG the last round it would have been a draw :witzend: .

I've had a very good past two weeks. I'm really not 100% sure, so I likely won't bet. I'm still thinking about the following....

Sergey Kuzmin to knock Price out in the first is 13/2.
Luke Campbell on points 8/11.

I can't see a safe bet in the Joshua fight.

I like Joshua points at around 3/1. Can see him putting in a similar shift as he did against Parker. He is respectful of Povetkin and knows he will be dangerous inside. McCracken will want him to box to orders and not take risks. Only worry is Povetkin lasting the course at 39 but he’s done the 12 loads in the past and should be the best he can be physically here.

AJ points 3/1

Yeah I think the AJ pts bet is a good price, that's what I've been advising people this week.

I doubled my bet on the over in the heavyweight title fight because of Povetkin's defense and because Joshua himself told Eddie Goldman of the No Holds Barred podcast that he predicted a decision win:

Anthony Joshua/Alexander Povetkin Over 8½ (+145) $100.00 for $145.00
Anthony Joshua/Alexander Povetkin Over 8½ (+145) $100.00 for $145.00
