After only 1 year “Alligator Alcatraz” has been shuttered. Trump spent $1 billion dollars on this facility. Whatever he touches sure turns to shit:
Are you complaining about the principle or the deiivery?

The signs are mounting that Trump is preparing a serious effort to steal the midterm elections outright.
A key hint came during his rambling speech about US election infrastructure a few days ago, in which he raged at news organizations for not carrying him live.
In doing this, Trump accidentally revealed that he fully expects the media to help him sow distrust in our elections. That’s an essential precursor to his rigging plot.
And remarkably enough, even Fox News balked at participating in this, another sign of how deranged his scheming has become.

One good thing about his "speech" is that it was almost impossible to follow. Just a rambling incoherent stream of bs and lies, and that was off a teleprompter. I don't think his own supporters understood much of it, and most people are so done with his whining about an election he lost 6 years ago.
I get the purpose of the speech, but it was just so poorly done to be very effective. Luckily his stupidity is getting in the way again.

Guessing he'll drop his case against the BBC now, check mate mudda fcuker
Yeah, pretty hard to make the claim he is trying to make when he and his family pulled in more than $1 billion last year. Probably their best year on record. The only media suits he is winning is when big media companies capitulate because they want something from his administration and understand that he is big bay, so giving him some money to get on his good side is a business decision.

Dementia Donny is going to make life even harder for Americans and Canadian businesses because he plans to impose 50% tariffs on all products coming from Canada starting August 19th. This contravenes the current CUSMA deal in place but Trump doesn't give a shit about honouring deals, so no matter what anyone agrees to with him they can't be certain that it will be honoured for very long. How can anyone trust anything he says when he backs out of deals he has signed?

Nobody trusts him and nobody is entering into actual binding agreements with him either. It's clear that many leaders just tell him they are going to invest billions in the US, knowing that he'll never check and that no real agreements will ever be signed. I think most leaders have resigned themselves with the fact that there will be random tariffs on and off throughout the remainder of his tenure, and they are quietly working in the background to reduce dependence on the US. He's doing lasting damage that will be felt long after his death.

Ironic because he ran on demonizing China and he’s driving countries into closer business relations with China. I kind of wonder if other countries are just waiting him out and hoping he leaves in 2029

I'm sure they are, but I'm also 100% sure they are working hard to move away from the US. Congress has done nothing to stop Trump running roughshod over international law and signed agreements. Even with Trump gone, there could be a new "Trump" in office after the next election, or the one after that. I don't think you can put the toothpaste back in the tube, the damage is done and it will be lasting.

The hostility to immigrants and cuts to scientific research funding are going to kill us long term as well. This used to be the place all the brightest minds in the world wanted to come and work and do research. That's over now.

Brain drain from the U.S. is definitely happening as well. Many are moving to Canada or Europe to flee the anti-science and anti-intellectual regime of Dementia Donny.

Maybe I'm being optimistic but hopefully this is temporary. Nazi Germany wasn't forever. LBJ-Nixon-Vietnam wasn't forever.

I have a friend here who was a health researcher for the CDC in the US but lost her funding, and decided to retire early and move. Some government-funded college research probably is of questionable value, but I am doubting Musk and his merry band of 19-year-olds did much in-depth research of their own to determine what should be cut.

If they do, it’s gonna guarantee a bloodbath for them at the midterms.

Honestly, not one day goes by without the US getting worse. The DoJ wants to enable mail order guns. Yepp, buy online, get them shipped to your door, no questions asked.
And Don Jr has got 300000 shares of a.....you guessed it......a startup who's positioned themselves to ship guns online. What a co-incidence.

So the alternative is the DSA and it’s takeover of the Democratic Party? Good luck with that.

So Trump is very adamant about term limits eh? Let's see if he decides that he can try to run again after this current term ends. What Trump says is one thing, what he does is another.

He came across as the complete asshole that he is. He can't tell jokes because he doesn't understand humor, it's like him reading off the prompter a language he doesn't speak . Mostly it was just his crude MAGA rally insults. Usually the President gives a short 10-15 min self-deprecating speech at the correspondents dinner, but he went on for an excruciating hour. I don't understand why they invited him.
