Amazing how people who've been in and around boxing for decades said Joshua would be too big and strong and ignored the skills of Usyk.I was saying for a while Usyk would be too mobile and clever for Joshua to cope with and that's how it workd out.Usyk didn't look troubled at any stage of the fight.I think last night if Joshua stood and traded he would have been ko'd and he knew it and he chose to play it safe, but last night wasn't a 20 stone slob in front of him, terrible tactics.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑26 Sep 2021, 05:14 Masterclass from Usyk, the difference between a man with 35 amateur fights and a man with over 300.
If you’re Joshua you really don’t need another 12 rounds of that, although I’m not entirely sure what Rob McCracken’s tactics were there…does anyone know ?
Wait and see if Wilder hits the jackpot in two weeks and if he does a warmup and then you’ve got one of the most exciting heavyweight fights in years.
I thought Joshua would be too big too strong, more hopeful than anything tbh, I like seeing the big punchers up there - Quite embarrassing for those 19 experts all going Joshua, but well played Matt Christie of boxing news ( and Duke who I note usually gets it right )![]()

I thought it was because it was the correct decision. Same reason they booed the Hatton score earlier in the fight.

I thought it irked AJ that usyk got a good reception. Think it was one of the reasons he stomped off. He’s worked so hard on his fake profile and the crowd warm to the funny guy with the crazy eyes

Just rewatching- what a master class.
Who’s the eejit shouting ‘brilliant brilliant boxing AJ!” “Brilliant footwork!”
It’s infuriating and he says it whatever Joshua is doing, even when he gets clumped

For all his faults AJ has been great for British boxing. Who else could fill stadiums for every fight and generate so much interest. Hope he has a decent remainder of his career.

I heard that too , didn't sound like McCracken .JamesPhilips wrote: ↑26 Sep 2021, 14:17 Just rewatching- what a master class.

Not seen the fight yet until Sky upload to YouTube, but for all the digs AJ is receiving I respect how he takes on tough contenders.
Doesn't bother me that he's lost twice, I'd much rather see a champion take risks, forced or voluntarily, than boxers who stay unbeaten by boxing shite opponents and appear infrequently.
When you bump into Klitschko, Parker, Povetkin, Pulev, Usyk and some lesser knowns too it's highly possible you'll slip up along the way.
Look at Riddick Bowe's 2 successful world title defences as a genuine world champion...Michael Dokes and Jesse Ferguson
Makes AJ's look like the gold standard in comparison.

A decent point though Pulev, Wlad and Povetkin were a combined 120 years old lolTHEBUTCH wrote: ↑26 Sep 2021, 14:42 Not seen the fight yet until Sky upload to YouTube, but for all the digs AJ is receiving I respect how he takes on tough contenders.

And yet all three were infinitely more dangerous and qualified to challenge for a world title than either Dokes of Ferguson

Only thing Joshua got right was the Rocky 4 music. Loved that (and it's been stuck in my head all day).

I've also just rewatched it. Beautiful boxing from Usyk indeed, great movement and speed. A sheer dominance.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑26 Sep 2021, 14:17 Just rewatching- what a master class.

I know these big crowds take some stick but by and large the majority appreciate
a proper boxer (greatness even), which AU is. It's always the minority who attract the negativity.
Was the same at Khan/Barrera, though at least 40% were for MAB. Appreciation of a legend.
I hope AJ O.B.E appreciates his vast majority white support which craps all over the racist country
narrative.

when the best man wins that's the true barometer of a knowledgeable audience.
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk - 25 September 2021
I think there's a clear difference between disrespecting an away boxer (depending on how he's conducted himself in the build up) and creating a "hostile" atmosphere in order to give our guy an edge in support.
When the fight has finished both boxers should get due recognition.
What I can't abide is the tossers who boo or try to drown out national anthems. Low lifes![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

I remember when GGG and Canelo fought.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑26 Sep 2021, 19:54 if the booing of national anthems led to the anthems not being played anymore, id bring megaphones for everyone to boo into
Had to sit through 3 National anthems.
Mexico for Canelo, Kazak for GGG and then USA’s because they were in Vegas.
It’s just draining. You’re waiting for a huge fight and then that happens.
I never really minded it for the really big fights.
