Hmmm. McGirt looked awful against the speed & flash of Taylor, though he was pretty drained coming in. You know, I think I'd take McGirt, assuming he was fit, on a close decision. Judah's speed would always trouble him, though, & a sharpened Judah might decision him. McGirt gets the nod from me, though. Pensively.
1999 Lennox Lewis (first Holyfield bout) vs. 1974 Muhammad Ali (Foreman bout). Twelve rounds. Interesting.

Tough call.
Lewis wins in an even and competitive fight. Ali looks strong in
the middle rounds, but goes to the ropes too often against a
patient and accurate hitting man. Lewis works from a long range
jab that does not sap power, but sets up a good cross and hook.
Ali tries to counter and flurry, but loses sting and consistency in
the fights later rounds.
Lewis MD 15/
I think the 1970s Ali fights the wrong style for a man like the peak
Lewis. Sacrificing his body as he did in order to look for the counter
and to out last the opponent wouldnt work againts a tip top Lewis.
Henry Akinwande (2000) Vs Ernie Terrel (1966) 15 rounds

I never thought a whole lot of Terrell, but he did possess a strong (though, on occasion, lazy) jab, good conditioning, & he came to win --- it's arguable Akinwande lacked all three qualities, in addition to many of boxing's rudiments. I like Terrell on a clear decision. Perhaps Akinwande would struggle with fifteen rounds & Terrell may get him late, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in losing on points.
Of course, an age-old argument (& one in which I've never been sure of myself in picking a winner)...
Date: 1st of January, 1977
Venue: Madison Square Garden, New York City
Bout: Ali-Foreman II
Ali old, but with Kinshasa in mind, Foreman, younger, fresher, winning, but shaky mentally...

Foreman gets his revenge, and does it in style. No rope-a-dope this time, as he takes his time putting the step slower legend in a hurt locker. Ali can't answer the bell in the 13th. Big George is vindicated.
Maurice Hope vs John David Jackson in a Jr. Middleweight attraction.

Maurice Hope vs John David Jackson in a Jr. Middleweight attraction.

Maurice wins by Tko in the 10th.Very Good and fairly even fight until then.
Frank Bruno(1986 version) vs Bruce Seldon(1992 version)
12 Rounds
&
Marvin Hagler vs Glen Johnson @ 170 catchweight.
12 Rounds

Seldon doesn't lay down for Bruno, but he's unable to withstand a barrage in the sixth which ends the bout.
Hagler loses steam with the weight, but works enough of the marvelous stuff for a twelve-round decision over the somewhat awe-struck Johnson, who's not-so-willing to let his hands go against Hagler, for some reason.
Ibeabuchi & Witherspoon (primes) over twelve...

Ike works hard for the 12 round decision. A lot of leather is traded in this one, but the nod goes to Ike.

Gavilan by SD.
Danny Williams(04 version) vs Ray Mercer(91 version)
12 Rounds
&
Roberto Duran(1983 version) vs Terry Norris(1990 version) @ 154
12 Rounds

Mercer, for mine, knocks out Williams in six. Duran loses a barnburner to Norris in a swing-fight, with the bigger man having just a touch too much firepower in the end.
Ron Lyle vs. Cleveland Williams. 15 Rounds.

Lyle gets to Williams early, and often. The big cat is down 5 times in all, and finally stopped in the 11th.
Fresh off last nights pasting of Margarito, Shane Mosley takes on Wilfred Benitez for the WW crown.

mosley continues his progress into greatness with a clear points win over benitez. the old legs drag him through the last 2 rounds which become a slugfest but his early rounds points build up see him through.
antonio margarito attempting to rebuild after the devastating defeat to mosley, stays at welterweight and takes on billy graham.

Margarito suffers his 2nd straight loss, as the speedy Graham stays off the ropes, and wins an wide decision.

Monzon by MD.
Here's a peculiar one i was thinking about before.
Mike Rossman vs Oscar Delahoya
(Supposing there was no SMW division like in Rossman's day)
Rossman, one of the lesser LHW champs of alltime, fresh off of the Galindez upset win, squares off against Delahoya, fresh off of the Hopkins loss at MW.
Mike weighs in at a full fledge size of 175 while Delahoya weighs in at a comfy and strong feeling 163 lbs.
15 Rounds.
Michael Buffer officiating....Lets get ready to Ruummmbllllllllllllle!!!!! 8)

Anything north of 154 is bad news for DLH, and he simply cannot hold the bigger fighter at bay. Rossman by UD.
Jameel McCline vs Jess Willard in a 15 round HW attraction.

Willard by late TKO after McCline gasses in the later rounds. I went back-&-forth on this wretched match-up, LOL.
Here's an even more horrible proposition...De La Hoya vs. Vargas II at any catchweight you like, right now.

de la hoya is in better nick than vargas..god help us..and dumps him on the seat of his pants with an innocuous looking right cross midway through the seventh. plenty of unsold tickets.
this was on the undercard, but who won?
middleweight clash of styles; "bobo" olsen v "winky" wright
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

That shoulda been the main event!
I tend to think of Wright as by far the most under-rated of his time & general weightzone (from the Mosley, De La Hoya, Trinidad era of late last century-to now), but he's not going to best a fighter of Olsen's pedigree, losing a unanimous decision.
I can't pick a favourite...
Bob Fitzsimmons vs. Jack Johnson, 25 Rounds, both at their peaks.

johannsen KO 2. ingo was too good to be beaten by a man outta the ring for 4 years - even if it was marciano.
clark KO 1. A rematch is arranged for the next day...clark KO 1. mollo agrees to try for a third time the following week...clark KO 1.

Hearns takes a narrow decision here. The great Ray Robinson does not do well with the extra weight, and Hearns is able to outquick him for the SD.
