Not sure if it was tactics or not, or even he knew he was ahead on the cards, could the corner have been told he was ahead and just stay out of range and not get into a fight in the final 2?

I dont know. I dont think either was going to gas out in the final 2 rounds but it did look like it was going to 12.

Thats the thing about boxing you never know till its all over.

I had it even going into the 9th but I scored the 9th and 10th for AJ making my card 95-93 AJ going into the 11th. I felt that AJ was on his way to a close decision going into the 11th, if he did not suffer another virtual decapitation in the last two rounds.

I have no problem with people seeing it as much as two rounds in Wlad's favor. There were several close rounds.

AJ tanked badly everytime he put together an attack. That bulk really was hurting him in the fight (as well as having a good fighter smacking him in the head of course)

Wish wlad would have targeted the body a little after the 6th, AJ was so gassed that if Wlad put the pressure on with some meaty smacks to the guts when they were grappling, I do not think AJ would have recovered.

Ridiculous. AJ got completely outboxed in the early rounds then got countered and gassed after he scored his own knockdown. He was on the run and miles behind after the KD in the 6th. His second-win from the 9th onwards won him the fight but he was (should've been) miles behind.

One of the judges had it 97-93 which I think means he had Wlad winning two rounds. Max after 10 rounds is 100 points, lost two from the max by being dropped and then lost another point from the max by losing another round. 8-10.

Then for Wlad to be on 93 it was him losing 6 rounds plus the knockdown.

i had wlad winning by 2 rounds going into the 11th. really enjoyed the fight, lets not forget that in the 6th joshua was 1 punch from being stopped. but fair play to him, he dug deep and won the fight. joshua has serious stamina issues, needs to drop to 17 stone and hit the road/pool. he will never get caught by a cleaner right hand than he did in the 6th...and he took it. just.

Jesus mate, watch again. I just did with a lot of rewinding. AJ was fecking missing most punches in the first two rounds, Wlad landed a lot more, the AJ punches missed their mark or were deflected. He was backing off and getting caught. His face showed his frustration, a few shakes of the head adding to it.

Also watched the 6th and 7th and again the worry is how long it takes AJ to recover, same as with Whyte he just could not get his shite together for about 5-6 minutes. 7th round he paws about 5 jabs and then throws two decent shots with 14 seconds of round 7. That is a solid 5 minutes with him on the back foot not being able to throw any punches.

Agree with above. Wlad was deflecting a hell of a lot of shots. If we are scoring shots that hit Wlad's gloves and forearms, then there would be a case for Joshua outscoring him but we're not...although the judges appeared to.

I said in my prediction that it would be unusual for a 41 year old to change his MO but he really did take the fight to Joshua and I was amazed when he came off the floor to bash AJ around then deck him in the next round. The fight was his for the taking but, classic Klitschko, the lack of variety in his attacks allowed Joshua to dodge the worst of it. All he had to do was stay away for 6 minutes but, credit to him, he was at last trying to destroy a dangerous opponent. He was ahead by a country mile on my card. I feel so sorry for him.

Joshua is not a natural. Big game heroic brute who is short on boxing ability and is so musclebound he gasses after any sustained attack. He'll squash Wilder and Parker I'm sure, but if Fury can recapture his form I think he'll boss AJ easily.

That's interesting given that I score realtime and generally end up with the correct winner and close to the most reasonable official scorecard. Meanwhile, you talk sh!t after the fact, when the scoring doesn't fit your personal perception of the fight.

Do you think he'll get to Fury? I see Fury studying the Klit tape and keeping it all safely long range. Difficult to know what form Fury will be when he comes back though. Be a huge fight either way.

Fury would frustrate Joshua before Joshua eventually closes the distance and go for broke, at which point I think he overwhelms Fury
