ten rounds.

Weaver is game, as usual. But as usual, his game isn't good enough. A prime Morrison takes Weaver apart in under 6.

Manfredy. Khan didn't impress me before his catastrophe, & we've seen too little to reverse that opinion since.

gibbons is almost great. a tiny shade below that elite fighter position. i take him to take a points win over 15 rounds against loughran who is also close to being a top drawer miller. gibbons throws the heavier shots and loughran is knocked off balance by tommy's cuffs on occasion especially in the 11th and 12th but does not go down. gibbons shows more facial evidence in this tough dust up than loughran but takes a deserved UD.

Matthews by a narrow decision. Moorer's power is evident, but the kid is able to avoid anything big and pick up the win.
Two fights @ 126
Salvador Sanchez vs Manny Pacquiao
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Rocky Lockridge

Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

Barrera endures the rocky moments & takes some licks, but gets the job done with a competitive UD. Sanchez-Pacquiao may come down to the distance. Fifteen would suit Sanchez's stunning endurance better. Over twelve, I think it's desperately close. Sanchez has the class, but he's truly never seen anything quite as unorthodox or bizarrely lethal as the bigger Pacquiao. I say Pacquiao wins a very narrow decision first-up, before losing in more convincing fashion to Sanchez in a rematch.

ricky beats gatti - hatton is heavier, hits hard and is smarter than gatti at his best. good contest for the 10 rounds before ref calls it a day
hatton TKO 10
ricky beats ward who is vulnerable to hattons body attacks. hatton again outweighs his man and micky is TKO'd in round 8
hatton TKO 8
ricky is beaten by judah who uses his greater speed to amass a decent points lead going into the 12th. he is floored by ricky who is cut and knows he is behind but zab rises again to last out the round and take the decision.

Sugar Ray Robinson would always be too big and too strong, the difference is Roberto was just blown up to middleweigt and Robinson by tthis time is a full fledged middleweight.

robinson was past his best in 1952 and retired in that year knowing it too.
duran was a very very good middleweight in 1982 (when he could be bothered to train) i reckon its alot closer than you had it. i'll leave your match-up to someone who knows jiro's merits better than i do. he'd have to be some fighter to beat villa though.

Watanabe isn't beating Villa, but I think he's putting in a, "not-without-a-fight" type performance. It's just that Villa does just about everything better than him. I can only see one victor.
This, on the other hand, is more difficult for me...

Mosley was a machine gunner at 135, and not taking anything away from the legendary Argullo, but Mosley gets his man via a 10th round stoppage. Blistering speed and power are too much.

Interesting fight. A swing-call, IMO. I'm going to side with Judah, whose speed & punching angles discourage Mitchell from being as offensive as he'd like. A decision win for Judah, who took the early rounds big.

The pre-Calzaghe Lacy has the punch --- & the self-confidence --- to KO Joppy, & I believe he would. Matthews emerges with a split decision over Hill, in a good fight.

This is a tough one for both guys.
Holmes wins a very gruelling match by split dec. His jab and
a knock down of louis early on secure his victory.
Louis wobbles Holmes in the middle rounds, but Larry finds when
he is able to move and dance does enough to frustrate Joe.
A great and entertaining fight....

Tunney does everything Young does better, but he just can't get, "up" for his elusive opponent, who makes him look bad. It's Young who has fewer tools overall, though, & it's Young who loses, by cards of 9-5-1, 10-5, & 9-6.

Dempsey's whirlwind assault too heavy-handed for Johnson to deal with. I can see Johnson trying to tie Dempsey up, unwilling to trade. I don't think he can hold him off, though. Dempsey came at you with a fire in his belly Johnson never saw. Dempsey TKO5.

the 1969 version of napoles is virtually indestructable. he is so, so good in that year that the 1978 benitez loses by TKO in the 8th. the improved benitez of 2 years later still loses to mantequilla (1969) but prob makes it thru to the last bell.
mccallum (1987) beats tito (2000) with a decisive points advantage. flooring trinidad in the 6th, his superiority at this stage in both their careers is clear.
