Re: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk - 29 April 2023?

For some reason I’ve never thought the Saudis are mad keen. Fwank and Bob have always said IF they come in with the right offer.
I would guess they massively overpaid for AJ/Usyk 2 compared to the coverage it generated globally so they may well have re-aligned their budgets and expectations.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:23 For some reason I’ve never thought the Saudis are mad keen. Yeh, i think they did.. Saudi must not be making jack on these events.maverick23 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:29I would guess they massively overpaid for AJ/Usyk 2 compared to the coverage it generated globally so they may well have re-aligned their budgets and expectations.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:23 For some reason I’ve never thought the Saudis are mad keen. Yes that is the most likely reason.maverick23 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:29I would guess they massively overpaid for AJ/Usyk 2 compared to the coverage it generated globally so they may well have re-aligned their budgets and expectations.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:23 For some reason I’ve never thought the Saudis are mad keen. Fury will say how bad his opponents are to demand that people consider him better than them. He then says how good they are to confirm that he is fearless and that he has/will beat the best. He's a walking, talking serial contradictor whose shtick has got old for most, despite what his fan club says on here.tonyevs wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:47Yes that is the most likely reason.maverick23 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:29I would guess they massively overpaid for AJ/Usyk 2 compared to the coverage it generated globally so they may well have re-aligned their budgets and expectations.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:23 For some reason I’ve never thought the Saudis are mad keen. Its all about promoting The Kingdom.
They have done a few shows over there now, and maybe they have finally realised they are being milked and not getting the value in return.
Whilst I don`t for one second believe that Fury is physically scared to fight Usyk - I do believe he is fearful of losing to Usyk because of the impact it will have on his carefully created image of peoples Champion and unbeatable giant. He knows all to well in boxing your only as good as your last fight, and to lose to someone he has convinced his fans is just a `middleweight` ... or same size as his wife, would make him a laughing stock as his brother Tommy and father have increasingly become.
Big John has stated the reason for Fury`s mental breakdown was the lack of recognition after defeating Wlad .. whilst we know it was more to do with the Boar meat and powder benders he indulged in .. its still an insight into Furys need for adoration and attention.
I still feel confident that fWank will push him towards Usyk ...
You really put a lot of faith in loads of media outlets, don’t you? How many different scenarios have you told us are going to happen now?big lennox wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 10:11 Looks like we will be served up Fury vs Wilder 4 instead of Fury vs Uysk:

I genuinely don’t think Fury fears Usyk. I don’t think he’s afraid of anyone.tonyevs wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:47Yes that is the most likely reason.maverick23 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:29I would guess they massively overpaid for AJ/Usyk 2 compared to the coverage it generated globally so they may well have re-aligned their budgets and expectations.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 09:23 For some reason I’ve never thought the Saudis are mad keen. If the Usyk fight is not going to happen I doubt it would be Wilder.mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 10:21You really put a lot of faith in loads of media outlets, don’t you? You put a lot of store by what Team Fury says. Out of interest did you believe Boris Johnson when he said there were no parties at No.10 Downing Street during lockdown?mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 10:21You really put a lot of faith in loads of media outlets, don’t you? Other alternative to Ruiz is Parker. We know Fury would like his mate to get a payday as he's said it before and also done the same for Chisora. He was also the backup option for Whyte. Most others would be a tough sell.tiny_acres wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 10:41 If the Usyk fight is not going to happen I doubt it would be Wilder.
Outside of Usyk, Wilder and Joshua. The only big money fight in the UK for Fury is Ruiz.
Ruiz has name recognition with the win over Joshua.
Aww. How to tell me you are one of those who voted for a Fury KO/TKO without actually telling me.DrDuke wrote: ↑12 Feb 2023, 21:58Punctuation-seems-to-be-a-hard-thing.887986 wrote: ↑12 Feb 2023, 18:30 Some 18% voted Fury KO/TKO. They are a funny bunch. Tyson "I-needed-150-power-punches-and-eleven-rounds-to-stop-a-stationary-target-flat-footed-Wilder" Fury, knocking out Oleksandr "never-even-been-knocked-down-as-a-professional-even-though-fought-against-noted-punchers-like-Briedis-Gassiev-or-Joshua" Usyk? Okay, sure.
Joshua dethroned Wlad in a fight that was 20 times more exciting than tue snoozefest Fury had. Wlad was getting old, it was only a matter of time.
Totally agree. Just like Wilder is ducking Ruiz at the moment.KiwiRider wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 14:14Joshua dethroned Wlad in a fight that was 20 times more exciting than tue snoozefest Fury had. Wlad was getting old, it was only a matter of time.
As for Wilder, his team made a mistake matching Fury against him, they had done such a good job protecting the belt up until then.
And we will never know how anyone decent would have faired against Wilder because his team ducked Wlad, AJ, Povetkin etc.
Don’t you miss the days when it was just Bowe ducking Lewis, instead of this tissue-thin talent shit-show of avoidance?mickey1975 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 14:42 We are going round in the millionth circle! I thought it was common knowledge AJ ducked Wilder? As Terry D said….
Fury will avoid Joyce like the plague just like he's avoiding Usyk , The Belly only fights people he's sure of beating . Usyk has got into his headbig lennox wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 16:45 Also, why not have Joe Joyce as a back up instead of Wilder? Everyone has seen the Fury vs Wilder dance three times before: we know how it plays out.
If Joyce is fighting on the 15th April, surely Fury could have boxed Joyce on the 29th April, instead of Wilder.
I'd second that, that Usyk fight is never happening this year. And he will avoid Joyce because that engine is way too impressive.coneye wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 17:59Fury will avoid Joyce like the plague just like he's avoiding Usyk , The Belly only fights people he's sure of beating . The legwork Team Usyk is doing for this fight is insane. They are the ones pushing for the fight from day one. How can Fury still have supporters is beyond me. He is a good boxer but his ducking of top fighters and stalling the whole division is just inexcusable.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Feb 2023, 18:48 Usyk’s promoter is gonna fly to London to try lock on a deal with George Warren.
