Froch after Taylor

If Froch gets past Taylor (which he should do fairly comfortably) I'm wondering whether he'll continue to take the virtuous path and seek the toughest challenges in unification matches with Bute and Kessler, or look to fight a couple of big US names in high profile PPV fights? I think it would be fun to see how Froch would set about solving the Hopkins puzzle, and a Roy Jones fight would also bring plenty of drama. I realise it would be hard for Froch to take these fights after criticising Calzaghe for fighting those older guys, but after two tough matches against Pascal and Taylor, surely we wouldn't begrudge him a couple of soft, entertaining defences that would earn him good money?? How about this for Froch's ideal career path, assuming he and these opponents keep winning?

Taylor->Hopkins->Jones->Bute->Kessler->Dawson

He has another mandatory to do after this fight with Taylor.

Froch v Hopkins. Your having a bubble mate. Thats a 120-108 match up if ever I've seen one

Even if Froch lands whats to say he carries his power up to LHW, power that isnt exactly proven at the weight he is at now

That's assuming he becomes a slave to the WBC belt. If the belt gets in the way of getting the right fights, I imagine he would simply bin it. He will be a marquee name if he beats Taylor and so the belt won't mean so much. His team are showing that they won't be held to ransom by TV companies, so I think they will apply the same approach to sanctioning bodies.

Are you serious? Froch is nowhere the level of fighter( in terms of profile) that can treat the belts like cheap whores and he won't get there with one fight

After Taylor?

How about leaving it a week...

Froch has to not allow Taylor to circle and box at his own slow pace. He has to punish Taylor for pulling straight back. He has to rough Taylor up, trap him on the ropes. He has to work, work, work, knowing there will be no favours. He has to win in hostile circumsances, at risk of losing his world title in the first defence.

Yes, this is no forgone conclusion. In fact I make Taylor favourite on paper - but think Carl will gut it out and probably stop Taylor late on, after falling behind on the cards.

I agree the Taylor fight is no foregone conclusion. But if Froch wins in style, I think he will receive challenges from the likes of Hopkins and Jones. If so, I'd be happy to see him take those fights before trying to unify.

Froch shouldn't be looking beyond next Saturday but it's fun to speculate!

Say's you. It's a 50/50 in my eye's and if anyone is the favourite it's Taylor.

I don't give Froch a great chance at beating Hopkins or Dawson either.

If Carl gets past Taylor as I expect him to do then I'm hoping for Bute followed by Kessler or vice-versa

Sounds about right, but I think he'll have to go on the road to make both of those fights. Bute and Kessler do very well at home and I can't see them coming to Britain on the cheap and I don't see Froch being a big enough draw to get them over here either.

What about a war with Sakio Bika or chase Anthony Mundine around the ring, or what about give Paul Williams a debut at the weight. Unification is honourable, but nobody would give a shit if he beat Bute would they?

Not sure where he goes, depends on the manor of victory, the presumed but not yet achieved victory.

If Froch beats Taylor then I'd love to see him smash that prick Mundine. Doubt Mundine would take the fight though now, he seems content with fighting bums and fat old welterweights.

Froch Vs Andrade would be a great fight, in terms of being a good spectacle

Mundine is fighting Aussie prospect Daniel Geale at middleweight. If he wins that then I think he will cash out against Pavlik as he knows time is not on his side.

Im with the people who say Froch can't give the belt up.

A win over Taylor will be a huge fillip and will propel Froch's profile, but I dont think it will propel him so much that he can go giving up the WBC belt.

Being realistic I think if Froch wins I'd lead him down a path of getting his mandatory out the way, and then either Unifying with Bika or getting a money spinner against Roy Jones (who has called out the winner of Froch v Taylor.) After that Id then look at Kessler and the other champions. Id be looking more at Kessler rather than Bute tho, despite all the talk I expect Bute to just piss ball around defending his IBF title for the next 2 years, alternating between his mandatories and then voluntary defences against joke artists like Zuniga and Mads Larsen, all these taking place in Montreal. After each fight they will say 'we want one of the big guns in America next' but it won't happen for a long time yet.

Id be looking at doing Taylor, next Mandatory and Jones/Bika all within this year, assuming he defeats Taylor (which will be tough.) If Froch does that within 2009 then it gives him a lot of options and still a good few years ahead of him with his career.

I would like to see him fight Kessler as that would be a good test for him and put him in line for maybe a big money B-Hop fight

I think Taylor is the man to deck Froch for the first time. I am hoping Froch wins but I cant see it being easy for him. Definately cant see Froch stopping Taylor so can Carl win on points?

IF he wins I would like to see him fight Bute, it'd be good to see him unify the two titles (more marketable to unknowlegable audiance than Taylor sadly) and then a couple of easier defences before Kesslar.

No, not at all. I can imagine a scenario in which Taylor outhustles Froch and gets a decision. But I think it's more likely Froch imposes his kind of fight on Taylor and forces him into a shell or leaves him in a collapsed heap.

I was told that if he wins, they will try to get a quick voluntary defence in Nottingham at the end of July before possibly fighting Bute in Canada, if they can't get the TV backing here.
