cool another conspiracy theory
He wasn't talking about immigrants he was talking about illegitimate asylum seekers, and this country is a bastard for genuine immigrants but bends over backwards for people who abuse the system, its a national disgracebig lennox wrote:I found that hard to read because of allegedly fw's red neck views on 'immigrants'.
Maybe but the fact they pass through god knows how many other countries on the way to ours tells you a lot about how much a soft touch we arebig lennox wrote:But the people that come over here illegally do so in a state of desperation and need help as well.
Hear, hear. But respond to the point - why do you think so many traverse dozens of other countries (with similar or even better living standards) to come to the UK?big lennox wrote:How compassionate we are? Everyone deserves a good standard of living, and people, with poor backgrounds need help sometimes. As simple as that.
they leave France and Italy for Britain. surely we should give them credit for good taste if nothing else ;;-)doctorboxing wrote:Maybe but the fact they pass through god knows how many other countries on the way to ours tells you a lot about how much a soft touch we arebig lennox wrote:But the people that come over here illegally do so in a state of desperation and need help as well.

If the reality is starkly different (and I'm not saying it isn't) why do so many seem resistant at trying their luck elsewhere? Even France and Italy?big lennox wrote:Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Hear, hear. They come to england as they percieve us to be more lienient and thus able to provide them with more prospects, but the reality is starkly different -see my post above:
There's a massive cultural and socio-economic difference in this country between Indians and Pakistanis.Carbo wrote:Look at Pakistanis and Indians -- they work every hour that God sends and teach their children to treat education as a gift and a privilege – as opposed to something that must be tolerated until you’re old enough to claim on the social. More like that please.
Or what the other european nations that they pass through are actually like? Germany? Just look at their history and that will tell you about their stance on people different to themselves. France? See the Somalis getting the shit kicked out of them by French coppers. Italy? See Germany.doctorboxing wrote:Maybe but the fact they pass through god knows how many other countries on the way to ours tells you a lot about how much a soft touch we arebig lennox wrote:But the people that come over here illegally do so in a state of desperation and need help as well.
Agreed Ian. Wasn't there a Jon Snow programme on a few months back which highlighted the difference in % of the two communities. It also went into the hardest working in immigrants in England, the ones that brought the most money (American's in the City) etc etc. Shame a some people (not a reference to Carbo) seem to brand the two together.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:There's a massive cultural and socio-economic difference in this country between Indians and Pakistanis.Carbo wrote:Look at Pakistanis and Indians -- they work every hour that God sends and teach their children to treat education as a gift and a privilege – as opposed to something that must be tolerated until you’re old enough to claim on the social. You are as deluded as the Sun if you think this: "teach their children to treat education as a gift and a privilege" applies across the board to Pakistani children (well, any children but particularly Pakistani ones). Ask anyone who has taught in even a half-decent multicultural secondary school.
In Bradford they say its against their home rights to ask them to speak English in schoolIan 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:There's a massive cultural and socio-economic difference in this country between Indians and Pakistanis.Carbo wrote:Look at Pakistanis and Indians -- they work every hour that God sends and teach their children to treat education as a gift and a privilege – as opposed to something that must be tolerated until you’re old enough to claim on the social. A lot more piss is taken out of the welfare state than £40 a week mate, I think some scam in London showed a £100k a yearCarbo wrote:I'd far rather have some Albanian willing to risk everything to get here, willing to leave everything behind because he can make something better of his life, than some dole wallower from the council estates near where I was brought up and my mum lives now.
America built itself into the largest, most powerful economy in the history of the world based on immigration. Why? Because, contrary to what the Sun and the Torygraph will have us believe, immigrants come to hustle and make money, not live on 40 quid a week..
The problem is that you only hear about the bad cases. It's like the so-called XTC scare. People were popping that sh1t like m&ms in clubs all over the country every weekend, and every time one person died, it was all over the paper. It was probably safer in overdose terms than alcohol, yet the way it was presented one would think it was a game of Russian roulette with about the same odds.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:A lot more piss is taken out of the welfare state than £40 a week mate, I think some scam in London showed a £100k a yearCarbo wrote:I'd far rather have some Albanian willing to risk everything to get here, willing to leave everything behind because he can make something better of his life, than some dole wallower from the council estates near where I was brought up and my mum lives now.

Personally I think immigrants should sign a no welfare state contract and not be able to claim benefits for 5years and our immigation policy should be opened up. Our Asylum Seeker legislation makes sense in theory but its taken the piss out of too much
Agree with every word of this. Well said.Carbo wrote:I actually made two mistakes. One was generalizing with Indians and Pakistanis. The second was generalizing at all.
I did so, however, to make my point that if you want to come to Britain and hustle hard to make a buck, and build a life, then you should be allowed. Simple as.
On another point, and I know one or two have links to the army here, the government ruled that Gurkhas who left the army before 97 couldn't gain UK residency.

This is plain and simple, a disgrace. If you are willing to put your life on the line for Britain, that is, pay the ultimate sacrifice, you have as much, if not more, right to be in Britain than the average joe. Plus, from what I know about Gurkhas, they're pretty good people, and would be a credit to their communities. Again, I don't have SO much experience, but from what I've seen, they're cool.
