On one side you have Leonard,Benitez,Hearns,Duran on the other you have Quartey,Trinidad,De La Hoya and Mosley.

I know I may catch some heat on this one but I believe the 90's crop is just as good, how would fights between this group turn out?

I think the 80's would win say Leonard vs Quartley Leonard to win

Benitez-Trinadad Benitez to win close though

Hearns-De La Hoya De La for me

Mosely-Duran Duran close again

3-1 for the 80's for me

Leonard and Hearns are going 4-0 to start, and Quartey is almost certainly an 0-4.

DeLaHoya could possibly beat Benitez, but if it's the Montreal Duran he's losing over 15 there. So at best Oscar probably goes 1-3.

I think if the 80s is represented by Curry, Starling, Honeyghan and Brown then perhaps we have a fairer tournament.

Leonard grew up not far from where I currently reside, but I was never a BIG fan of his...I will say this, Leonard beats all those jokers--Oscar, Tito, Ike and Shane...heck, toss is Mayweather, Jr for good measure...I believe Leonard would have gotten his sternest test from Mosley...imo

Leonard and Hearns are the clear best of the lots IMO.

Duran/Benitez vs. the '90s welters is tougher to call.

Agreed.

In this case, the '80s welters were generally more technically proficient, but (with the exception of Brown) may have lacked the fire and intensity that many of the '90s ones showed.

i know he never won a world tittle but colin jones vs felix trinidad would be great to watch both would go down in short thriller

Nobody would want to be in with Jones in the second half of a fight. Curry realsied this and went after him early. Once Jones warmed up he was a real threat.

In this instance I imagine Trinidad would do too much damage early on (a bit like Curry). Would be a great fight though.

You sense of humor is great, thanks. Quartey is the most overrated of them. Quartey will lose to Leonard in a one sided beating. Lose to Hearns by KO in less than 5 rounds, Lose to Duran by brutal fashion, and lose to Benitez by UD. By the way he will lose to Mosley and Trinidad too.

Quartey never gets his credit.

De La Hoya stalled him out until he started to fade and still lost to him and got a gift.

Trinidad would've been outboxed and Mosley would have trouble with Quartey's jab as he did with anyone with a good jab.

But I expected him to be downplayed as always.

Quartey is indeed under-estimated.

Is he the best of the 90's Welters? Not a chance, Grimm.

Trinidad vs Quartey should have happened.

Oscar, Mosley, and Quartey were a very solid group of fighters.

But they are all losing to peak 147 versions of Duran, Hearns, and Leonard.

I agree with Ezzard . . .vs Curry, Starling, Honeyghan etc. is a better matchup.

I agree on this one. I think Sugar Ray and The Hitman are going 4-0. Duran could pull it off too.
