Yes im 6 - 0 now, fighting again the 22nd May in York Hall. I'd love to fight these lads as soon as possible really but know I need to get a few rounds under my belt first. A bit more professional experience will do me the world of good. Looking forward to it though...its looking to be quite an exciting division

there is footage of him on youtube , tbh i think this fight is a couple fights too soon for lyndsay he needs more experience , go for euro then world

Well I've seen boxing all over the place and I've gotta say the atmosphere Saturday was incredible.
The Irish are absolute top dollar - treated like royalty.

appleby is too straight-up, too raw and wild, for a fully-developed swifty. the difference between swifty's compact style and Appleby's slightly long-armed, open, chin-up slugging, was apparent from early in their respective careers, to me. appleby works the body well but that's it, IMO.

its a crying shame swifty needs 4 or 5 more fights and definitely a couple of 8 round type visits before tackling fighters of lindsay/appleby's level... but i have no doubt on saturday's evidence he stops them both.

Glad you enjoied it 26, I was one hell of an atmosphere inside the Hall. In fact singing could be heard from the street outside.

It was bloody noisey even before the main event and hard to talk in the corners etc. Trust the bar to close and the crowd to go wild expecting Lindsey and they end up with Del Spencer and Luke Wilton first. Though Luke enjoied the atmosphere in the ring as the whole place seemed to root for the local lad.

I've been to a fair few venues around Ireland and the UK and I think the atmosphere there on Saturday was possibkly better than dunne has had in Dublin. not so much for sheer volume but the constant singing and cheering. I was a little disapointed with the MC's build up and the enterance to the ring from both boxers for the main event, but hey cant have everything.

CP - As for Swifty, he has to get those longer fights under his belt before even thinking about appleby or Lindsey etc. I aint seen that much of Swifty but we will all need to see how he handles 6-8 round fights and if the engine is there to keep the pressure on in to the latter rounds. Being completely honest I did think Lindsey would win but either rnd 11-12 or close points decission. I was amazed at how much Martin has improved since I seen him last, christ haven't even seen him in sparring so good. He was sharp the timing was there and he was so nimble on his toes even after planting the feet to throw he was on his bike again when he needed to and never became flat footed. He really surprised me. as for appleby I think he will bounce back, he has too. It's like falling off your bike you have to get back on to get better at it and a defeat at this stage of his career is nothing to worry about. to be honest if Lindsey goes down the tommy Egan IBF Cruz route Appleby could be back in for a rematch in no time. I think Cruz IBF would be too much for Martin right now although he seems to be improving very fast and credit to wee Nugget for all the hard work he has put in with Martin.

Appleby just didnt seem on form so to speak on Saturday night, maybe it was the press conference invassion that threw him, maybe the massive pro Lindsey crowd, maybe just being in belfast and a hotel etc had put him off a little. I have seen better performances from Paul and would like to see some more from him again. I was a complete bear pit for the wee lad to walk into and lets be fair he's only 22YO. He has all the time in the world ahead of him to recover and recoup before starting his comeback trail.

CP - I'll keep your Swifty comments in mind on my next betting slip

The Irish certainly love their boxing, must have been incredible being there. Appleby is good but as I have said before only at domestic level. Lindsay won well and proved to be the far better man. Lindsay should go for the Euro title after a couple of defences of the British. If all goes well for him maybe a World shot in a couple of years. Hes an intelligent lad, he wont want to rush things.

totally agree on smith, its a real shame he couldn't have been born a year or two earlier, mind you his mam and da were busy on some Paul kid at the time I suppose, so....

totally agree on Lindsay his nimlbe feet- when he was chooisng to use them- were a joy to behold.

By the looks of the Lindsey fight it might prove hard to beat an Irish/Norn Irish boxer in Belfast.

Lindsey will be interesting to watch now, not the fights but the path he and his team choose for him. I think their next move could be crucial to Martins career.

indeed- exactly why i thought home advantage would sway it for Lindsay. tho i should say- at times he was fighting when he should have been boxing so if the home lads let it go to their head and go off their gameplan it might work against them.

I would like to Lindsay cement his place as British number one or even better, go for the European crown against Yemifovich at the King's Hall. That's all depending on whether Tommy Egan gets him a crack at Cruz's IBF belt first though! Although he's offered that to Solis now

I'm not sure what corner you were looking in but Nugget was in the ring every round with Martin, yes John Rooney was also in the corner (his manager) but then again so was Stevie Quinn, who is nothing to do with Lindsay or any of this team, Stevie works with Eastside ABC and Team ALio Professional Boxing. Infact if you watch the end of the fight again the clip that has been repeated on TV since the win, the 2 corner men featured with Martin are Alan Wilton (Alio) and Stevie Quinn ? Both Eastside coaches and nothing to do with Team Lindsey other than being friends. Stevie worked that corner all night as a 3rd/4th and Alan worked Jay Morris and his son's corners while his brother worked the red corner all night as a 3rd.

I'm not really sure where you want this to go Southpaw ? I'm a little lost, do you want me to mention more about the wonderful Rooney who bought drink all night back at the Europa Hotel after his man won or have I said enough ?
