Every boxing/sports website is reporting the Froch was loosing the fight going into the twelth, thats fair enough as the fact is he 'officialy' was, two of the three judges had it a whitewash for Taylor. Whats grinding on me though is by all press reports, Taylor actually WAS outclassing and outboxing Froch and was deservedly way in front on the cards. BOLLOCKS TO THAT!

Taylor took the first two rounds 10-9 and the 3rd 10-8, but from the 4th onwards Froch was very much in the fight and from the 7th to the end i had him winning everything. Taylor deffinate'ly had the faster hands and the better skill set early on, but a championship boxing match is over 12 rounds and not just 3.

The press reports dont seem interested much in the third judge's scorecard, giving it nothing more that a quick mention then back onto the fact Froch was being outclassed before scoring the big KO. But for my money that third judge was right on the money. I personally had it 106 to 104 for Froch going into the 12th and was confident it would end up 116 - 113 in his favour. I wont be remembering this fight as Froch comming from behind to score a 12th round KO and i would have liked to have seen the press reports give him more credit for his whole performance (even if he did not exactly shine) and not just his gutsy 12 round KO!

How were others scoring this fight going into the 12th round?

I had it the same as Bernstein and Given - Taylor by 2.

Yeah I didnt have Taylor winning everything early, I thought Froch deserved a share of the second, and the 8th is an interesting one as Taylor was losing the round by some way and then lands a classy combo and no doubt the judges gave Taylor that one too.

I think Taylor by 1 or 2 points is fair going into the last. He was by no means as dominant as I thought tho from listening to the radio coverage.

I thought the commentary and crowd were obviously very pro-Taylor and that affected the judging of the fight by the judges and clearly the viewers. I had it 5-2 Taylor after 6 rounds (including his knocdown), then had the next 6 rounds 4-2 to Froch on basic roundage. Then with the knockdown 5-2, so a draw on my card without the stoppage.

I felt the commentators were calling certain rounds to taylor for 20 seconds of work at the end of a round, but evidently 2 of the judges were seeing it exactly the same. Just shows how hard it is to go to the US against a US fighter on a US card and get any change out of the judges.

It's not important now, but Froch did indeed need the knockout on my card.

I thought the Showtime commentary was excellent.

Didn't score it, but my feeling was that a 10-8 for Froch in the 12th was just enough to scrape the win. Certainly no more than 2 either way after 11.

agree i scored and had taylor 1 up , but i scored a couple of rds even where taylor had spurts late in the rd that could have swayed the judges

I had Froch one round behind going into the 12th.

IMO there were a few rounds that were hard to call. i had taylor 2 up going into final round

I didn't score it, but thought Froch definitely had to be behind on the cards. I've no idea how one judge actually had him UP on points??
Taylor looked to be outclassing Carl over the first 8 or 9 rounds - he was landing big, and Carl looked tense AS HELL. Took him around 10 rounds to get untracked...

What an amazing fight, absolutely fantastic. I really thought he'd blown it, and was dumbfounded to see him pull out a finish like that - his legs had looked a bit unsteady and I've no idea where he found that finish from.

He really never looked himself up until the finish - I think he was half in shock to start with, as the occasion really seemed to get to him, and he must have been shocked by how easily Taylor handled him, and the power of the punches he was getting hit with. Welcome to the Big Time.

On ESPN.com, Dan Rafael had Taylor eight points up, 108-100. It was closer than that even though Taylor was clearly ahead.

I had it a bit wider than some at 106-102, 7-4 minus the knock down.

I thought in the second half of the fight, though, Froch was losing rounds, but doing more cumulatave damage during them. Apart from a nasty moment in, I think, the eighth, when Froch was caught by a withering uppercut, I think that even when he lost rounds, he looked like he was imposing his will, if that makes sense. Because of this, I think that it would be entirely reasonable for it to have been scored closer. Equally, I wouldn't have too much problem if someone had scored it 8-3 minus the KD, or even 9-2, as my Russian boxing-drinking partner Vlad had it.

I found it interesting that Taylor would only tend to work in the 2nd part of the round generally and reallly ramp us his efforts in the last 30 seconds. Not sure if this was tactful due to pyschological worries about Stamina or just championship experience.

I had it Taylor by two. The cleaner shots, the bigger shots were Taylor's up until round 8, I think it was towards the end of round 6 (maybe five) when Froch started to come forward and open up and Taylor punished him with class, it was following by Taylor baiting Froch after the bell went. That said Froch was more aggressive and made the fight happen and would have wobbled Taylor earlier if it wasn't for JT's solid defence.

Still, the fight went twelve rounds, Taylor was tired due to Froch's pressure and Froch showed class to finish.

I know, can you believe this joker was set to tell us that Froch had won comfortably on points, at the end?

And the idiot interviewer at the end was the notorious Jim Grey, a man who knows NOTHING at all about boxing ( Tszyu once asked the plank to be a bit more polite in an interview ).
He seemed to think that the ref stopped it too early?? With Taylor, hands down and staring vacantly at the canvas. The ref should have replied "you're an idiot"
