Promoter Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves Promotions has announced that Australian based former IBF junior welterweight champion Lovemore Ndou will meet South Africa’s Phillip Ndou on a bumper bill at Emperors Palace near Kempton Park on July 11. On the undercard two of South Africa’s brightest young prospects Tommy Oosthuizen and Jared Lovett will clash over ten rounds for the vacant IBO Youth light heavyweight title. Also featured will be South African bantamweight champion Simphiwe Vetyeka who returns to action after a long lay-off against Eric Barcelona from the Philippines in a match for the vacant IBO bantamweight title. The Ndou vs. Ndou bout is a most exciting attraction that will pull in the fans.

Phillip Ndou 32-3; 31 who will be 32 on May 4 made a return to the ring in March this year after an absence of nearly five years, when he stopped Rachid Drilzane in St Quentin, France. He has not fought at the same level as the 37-year-old Lovemore 46-11-1; 30 who was awarded the IBF junior welterweight title after his win over Naoufel Ben Rabah in February 2007 in an IBF title eliminator. He was awarded the belt when Ricky Hatton relinquished it.

The Lovett vs. Oosthuizen fight is an intriguing match-up between two unbeaten young prospects with knockout power in either hand. The 21-year-old Oosthuizen has nine wins all by knockout and Lovett, 22, who was the Boxing South Africa’s Prospect of the Year for 2008, has won all his 8 fights inside the distance.

It has also been announced that Malawian Isaac Chilembe has joined Golden Gloves Promotions and will be fighting at the Graceland Casino in Secunda on June 6, on a Golden Gloves Promotion.

So what do people thing. Is Lovemore past it? has he got anything left in the tank? I don't reckon he has been the same since the war against Ben Rabah.

Phillip's long layoff was the result of his collapsing in the dressing room after losing a split decision to Hlatschwayo in 2004. He was admitted to hospital and announced his retirement.

Does anybody know if there is still a question mark about his health?

Great to see Lovemore back in the ring. Do you think he can get himself back in the title picture ?? He needs to be more active.

i reckon his best is past. The Ben Rabah fight really took it out of both of them.
