I'd be surprised if he didn't call it a day after that. He's had two cracks at the best and come up short. He's done all he can, time to enjoy his money.

Ihope he retires. He has made his money, and fought on the biggest stage against two elite fighters. Tonight was sad to watch and I really hope he will be OK.

I don't think he needs to retire. Just stop masquerading as an elite fighter. Step it down a notch and fight the kind of fights you can handle.

think hatton should have one more fight, but an easy 1 in manchester as a farewell, but ultimately should retire as i think he's lost his punch resistance, just don't think malignaggi had the power to expose this previously.Pacman is a legend, and cant see floyd liking his constant pressure fighting.

That should be it, there is absolutely no need for a "farewell fight" in Manchester, he's done the "big homecoming" thing before.

If he carries on fighting then he should stick to someone who is at his level like Bradley, every time he steps in against an elite fighter he gets flattened although that could be due to the Tom Jones factor as well, that's twice now I've seen Jones sing the national anthem at a Hatton fight and Ricky ends the fight flat on his back both times.

Only problem is if he retires he'll probably concentrate on his stand up comedy routine, I don't know if I could stomach hearing the Rice Krispies being scared line every time he's on TV!

Totally agree. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a "homecoming" fight though.

i agree with you, and hatton has not been a fool since then either, he has only taken risks when the dosh it at its maximum stake......he dodged cotto.......hi dodged witter. then team hatton all caught money-itis....took control of their own destiny....alledged ticket discrepancies.....all very sad really.

i honestly think hatton was a better fighter when he used to destroy people to the body, in and out of range, moving on way in and way out, firing left and rights downstairs with bad intentions. hitting and not being hit. his performances against pep and rowlands were outstanding (i was lucky enough to be ringside for both).

as he moved up in class, he thought he could out macho people, he became one dimensional, easy to read and easy to hit, his punch resistance went, and his 'between fight eating and drinking antics' caught up with him big time, we have been alluding to that for many years on various sites.

colin hart was a breath of fresh air on sky last night, he was completely honest and did not comply with the usual sky 'lick arse' policy, ill be surprised if he gets invited back. i think he did the same on eurosport once too...became a victim of his own honesty and experience, he is a man i admire for his honest stance.

im sad to say im glad ricky got beat, i dont want to see anyone hurt, but i think he has been kidding the public for a few years, he is certainly not as popular outside his beloved manchester as one would imagine.

It was a bad KO but Herol Grahams loss to Jackson will probably live with me for eternity.

brutal KO hatton wasnt even at the races from the first bell, PBF gave him a boxing leson and pac-man put the final nail in the coffin.

Why he can still make allot of money stepping down a level and taking on the other titlists and claiming to be a champion. No chance he'll retire, KO's happen in boxing especially when you get caught by the perfect punch like that

There is no need from a financial perspective for Ricky Hatton to fight on - I hope he simply retires he will never be the same fighter.

Said it on other threads - the manner of last nights victory by Pacman has sickened me - I did not enjoy seeing it happen at all - I hope Ricky is ok and he now enjoys the money he has earned from his ventures.

He should retire because there are no easy fights out there for him now that the way to fight him has become so well known at the same time as his punch resistance has faded dramatically. Torres, Holt, Bradley, Khan, Marquez are all fights he would have to get down in the trenches for in my view.

I love Ricky's fighting spirit and his pride will want to go out on a win - and lets not forget that, for instance, the whole Gatti story with the Ward trilogy would not have existed if a 29 year old Gatti had not resisted the calls from his many admirers to call it a day after De La Hoya took him apart - but the risk to his health, given the way he fights, is now foreground not background.

The difference between the two fighters last night I felt was that one had spent the period since 2005 improving his skills and the other had let his skills erode. Roach was right, Ricky has become alarmingly one-dimensional, the shame of it is that it wasn't always so and last night was not inevitable if Ricky had really sat down after the Collazo fight. In retrospect, I think the win over Castillo was the worst thing that ever happened to Ricky because it covered up a lot of the erosion and I can't see a way back now.

It's got to be over, I don't want to see him fight again after that crushing loss. He isn't the fighter he was a few years ago and fights against the likes of Bradley and Khan would just be a step down in my opinion, it would just be a money making scheme because we all know now that Hatton can't compete with the elite boxers around today so why should we just put up with routine fights against lesser names for the sake of the Hatton brand living on in this country.

I was absolutely shocked by Hatton's defence or lack of it, the whole fight as short as it was, Ricky has his hands practically glued to the top of his chest, no protection for his face or chin at all, lunging in with his head exposed like that against a hurtful puncher like Pacman is just plain stupid. I thought Mayweather Snr was a master for defence training? I'm not saying Ricky wouldn't have got clocked in the end anyway but a bit of defence when close to Pac wouldn't have hurt!

How could it possibly NOT be on the line? The Ring Magazine title is for junior welterweight and they fought at junior welter weith. This is boxing, a fight that in a squared roped area with a couple chaps wearing leather gloves. Just thought I would point that out because that is amongs the dumbest question I have ever read and I am not sure if you are aware of the sport
