I think they put him on his side so he wouldn't swallow his tongue.
I'm serious, no joke on this thread

Well before the fight started, I had a horrible premonition that Hatton was going to die. Bloody mind playing nasty tricks on me.

Hatton didn't deserve that - I mean getting sparked in such a horrible way.
I hope he is well.

I accept your sentiment, share it in fact..but not altogether sure of your logic. He's got 12 million dollars for that , maybe more, I would think against Pacman your hand should be nailed to the sides of your chin if you're going to jump in.
Watching it back, courtesy of Teddy's youtube thread...there is an absolute inevitability about what's going to happen. Although it is still shocking to watch , I agree.
But hey, let's be thankful that we're not talking about something worse here, he looked pretty compus mentus to me when he finally got sat up. I wish him a good recovery.

After the first round Hatton had had enough. He wasn't even listening to Mayweather Sr.

He looked totally bewildered after that first round. I dont even think the punches look that hard, its just the way they were delivered which were devastating. Let me be clear I'm not saying Pac Man is a light puncher but I reckon he had a lot more to give which should be quite worrying for future oponents.

I could barely make out a fckin word he said...but I got "keep your hands up" loud and clear, as well as "don't jump in with your head, or if you do, keep moving it"...and lastly "that's what I've said all along".
but yes, Hatton looked well and truly cheesed off didn't he, like he realised the size of the task. That's what the cash was for, unfortunately it means you got to hang with these top guys and get hit til you can't get hit no more. I hope he makes a good recovery, the initial signs were positive.

Very scary Knockout.
I was rooting for Manny but when that shot landed something looked like it had broke in Ricky.
Hope he makes a full recovery, gives me a chill when Boxers go down that hard.

I watched Hearns v Duran yesterday afternoon, shades of that fight last night.

Why the fornicate didnt they give oxygen to Ricky Hatton. In the UK if someone gets KO'd bad they have them with the oxygen on pretty much straight away. All they seemed to do with Hatton was put him in recovery position and just watch him.

I think you probably had a premonition that something nasty was going to happen to Hatton and your mind went to the worse case scenario. My wife had a feeling something was going to happen to a Royal prior to Dianas death. We both thought at the time it would be the Queen Mother dying.

I'd just watched Owen v Pintor. For a while I feared the worst.
I hope he recovers fine.

pass out = unconscious
and he was in that state before he even hit the floor im afraid, a chilling KO. unfortunately its what a lot of us watch the sport for.

Yep, if he had slipped into a coma or something terrible like that, surely people would be looking back to this and saying how bad it was. They could have had oxygen on him straight away but seemed to do very little tbh.

There is nothing more than a fighter wants to see his opponent out cold like Hatton, as long as he is fine after. It is the best feeling in the world.

the fact that O2 was not administered very very promptly was a disgrace, the fact hatton was not put in the 'recovery' position quicker was an absolute disgrace.
i have been very critical of the medical standards adhered too and implemented by the BBB of C in the past, but i must say, apart from the referee wearing gloves, we are streets ahead of the americans.
