Off topic(ish) - Sky plus.

Hi guys,

I was away so I sky plussed the Hatton fight... and now I cannot put it onto DVD (for my own personal use I will add) cause of copyright issues.... anyone know of any way in which this can be solved.

Learned from my mistake - I normally phone for the SBO events and can record them with no problems onto DVD, this time I did it via the remote - and all kinds of problems. Does anyone know, is it the fact that I did it via the remote, or cause I also selected to record it on Sky plus and not just view it.

I tried to record it live on my DVD recorder, but no joy, and now no joy with Sky+ play back and copy.

I ordered it and recorded it through the remote and when I got home on Sunday it told me I had viewed it and couldn't watch it.

A HBO version has magically appeared on my Mac if you're interested? It's 720p.

I had to call to order because it came back with an error when I tried to order through the remote.

The guy on the phone said i wouldn't be able to record it because I'd ordered it through the phone, he said I could have recorded it if it had've been done through the remote.

it was the HD feed if that matters.

Box office events can only viewed so often / or for so many days and then they expire i believe.

Ive had a look round some forums and it could either be a signal from your sky box to your dvd recorder, which forbids it recording due to copyright...

But this guy had the same issue and sorted it with a software download to his sky box after speaking to them:

viewing it is not a problem, but putting it onto DVD is. I think the Sky guy was bluffing you Charlie. I phoned for Khan vs Barrera and then recorded live onto my DVD record (not via Sky plus... but I did have Sky plus machine) and it was fine. All the others are fine.

But this one - no..... but I am wondering if its cause I set it to "record" on Sky plus and not just on the timer when I did it via the remote.

I've heard there are certain skart leads that can help, any ideas?

I to have a sky hd feed if that helps.

This all started around 3-4 PPV cards ago through sky when you order the event everything is sweet came up on your planner and all was danndy.

Until the event actually starts then you fire in your tape/dvd and press record and nothing happens then it turns out not only have you paid the hefty price of £15 and cant even copy it onto a disk for your own personal use.

I have found if you tape it on to your hard drive through your sky button then wait till the PPV event has finished and then you seem to be able to copy it onto a dvd/tape.

In falling this just record the friday show of the Hatton fight sky sports 1 10pm and you will get it there i know it's a lot of scuttring about but at least you will get it onto a disk.

Hope this helps

did anyone manage to tape it.... why restrict it to Sky plus customers and not the other type of Sky digital.

Just about given up on getting this on tape - tried all kinds of fiddling around with the scarts...

Sorry, but when you've paid £15 I would like my own version of it... so frustrating having it to view but not to keep. Never realised there was a problem with Sporting events and SKy box office.

They put something in place at the back end of last year "copy protecting" certain events, I have two DVD recorders, one straight to disc and the other with a HD in it and neither of them will let me record PPV events anymore.

The scart lead you're looking for is on of these

http://www.multi-region.co.uk/smartlead ... p-763.html

I would shop around you may get one cheaper, I haven't tried one as yet so can't say if it works or not.

For the people with the PPV on there sky hard drives can you record it onto a tape or dvd now?

As stated above during the live PPV you cant record it but as soon as the event finishes just tape it from your sky hard drive over to a tape dvd no probs.

Cant see away round this if you don't have sky+ or HD.

It doesn't work even from the sky+ box after the event.

I Sky plussed it, but haven't had time to watch some of the Sunderland bouts. Are these going to delete themselves soon?

I Sky plussed it and watched it the next morning without any issues it remained on the Sky + planner and I watched it again a few days later, but I didn't try and put it on a DVD.
