This fight can't possibly go the distance! Oops !!!!!

Has there been a fight where you thought due to the profiles of the two people squaring off that it couldn't posibly go the distance, only for you to be wrong

The reason I ask is because I have staked alot and told anyone who would listen that Haye v Klit is not going the distance and I just getting a little tinge of fear about the result

The one I can think of is Enzo v Braithwaite. I was certain two 'big punching' crusierweights would have a seesaw battle in which one would fall over. Turns out there werent even any knockdowns

Can anyone think of any other examples.

Soto vs Naz

I'm in the same boat, having doubts due to the amount ive put down and I don't want to jinx it but...surely......

The probability that it won't go 10.5 is down to Haye I feel. He'll just be looking for any chance to end it. I honestly think if Haye can get a foothold we could see Haye/Macc II. If Haye wobbles Wlad, he will go in and try and finish him.

On the other hand, if Haye doesn't get a foothold, we could either see a chess match like the first round of Haye/Macc, or we could see Wlad timing Haye and KOing him. The chess match can't last very long before someone lands something, and if it goes even 3 or 4 Haye will be trying to land the big right and either succeeding or getting countered.

I am racking my brains but I can't think how it can be a distance fight or even last more than 4 or 5. And something in our favour is that in the examples mentioned above, in every fight at least one guy was tough and you could see them gutsing their way through heavy fire. WIth Wlad and Haye their styles and punch resistance don't allow for this, it'll be no half measures.

Don't worry about the bet, I have the under 8 as a second leg of my double with Hatton fight under 10, for big bucks and to be honest I am not worried at all.

Both men have average chins, punch like f**k and will be hyped to pieces come fight time.

Someone is going over early doors and when they do the other man finishes it.

Start planning your hols

some people were saying Williams vs McDermott II might not go the distance but I thought it would.

I think you've got nothing to worry about here at all. haye regularly visits the canvas and Wlad does also when he's hit. It will be over before 5. The only way it won't is if Haye gets badly hurt early on and manages to survive and then wlad just outboxes haye (who will be very tentative and be hoping wlad slows down) for the duration. Its a possibility and with Hayes heart, I expect him to get up if he is knocked down. Wlad likes to take the safety first approach and i can see a lot of jabbing happening and if hes comfortably winning, don't expect him to be going all out for the KO. In the ibragimov fight he just found a way to comfortably win rounds and didn't even try for the KO and took the safety first approach. This could happen here but its unlikely.

DLH V's Forbes, I was convinced Oscar would stop him purely based on the size difference, now in hindsight Oscar even getting down to 150 had left him weight drained.

Vazquez - Marquez 3 - I was so sure there was no way this could twelve following the wars they had previously and the vunerablities they both had shown.

Spud v Hennessy - never thought that would go through to the final bell either - then the cheating ref (McCracken) held up Hennessy's hand as the victor!!

Valero doesn't want it apparently. He said he only wants big fights and then quoted some unknown guy called Soto as a possible opponent.
I love watching Valero but when you look at his record he's won 2 'world' titles at 2 weights, remained undefeated and created this near mythical reputation by blitzing a myriad of shit or unknown fighters. When you think of the talent operating around him at super-feather and lightweight his handler's ability to negotiate their charge's path so easily is nothing less than staggering. And if he fights another bum it will be bordering on the absurd. :-?

Holyfield - Foreman was touted as a big won't go the distance at the time. Both fighters got advertising on the soles of their boots.

In retrospect a distance fight seemed quite likely

That fight was on TV the other night/morning. Every time I watch it I'm stunned by Foreman's chin. He was nailed by a number of shots that matched the best Haye could offer, and yet never looked close to getting KO'd.

I think in the 7th and particularly the 9th Foreman took about 20 punch combos and for a few seconds was completely gone but Evander couldn't follow up as he'd punched himself out and the bell went.

2:11 mark it starts. Just watch for about 60 seconds. It reminds me how terrific a combination puncher Evander was and of course how great George's chin was. :TU:

Oh yeah - another Foreman fight - Tommy Morrison-George Foreman......

Didn't expect Tommy Gunn's chin to take Foreman's clubs

Surprised no-one has mentioned Wlad Klitschko vs. Samuel Peter yet. Don't think many would have expected Peter / McCline to go the distance either but it did - and yet in both fights the guy that won got floored three times.
