There are some guys out there who you could hit round the head with a bar stool and they would still be stood upright.

However, to me, a great chin does not just neccesarily mean that you never get put down, it is about how you recover from being put down as well. For example Calzaghe to me has a great chin, despite being floored several times in his career (he has always climbed back up and won)

I`ll go for these three in no particular order:

Larry Holmes
James Toney
Chris Eubank

George Chuvalo, surely? Fought anyone and everyone as a heavyweight and was never off his feet if I recall correctly. He had a few TKO losses but was never down.

Eubank fought Benn and didnt even flinch when hit and Benn had dynamite in his fists
McCulloch Great chin took Harrisons best and didnt go down been stopped twice but never KO'd
LaMotta Fought SRR 6 times and didnt go down the man was a beast

My vote is Oliver McCall

Randall Cobb has to be a shout as well. He took some real hammer from the top boys in his day and went the distance with all of them (Holmes, Norton, Dokes etc)

However on checking his record I see he was sparked in a round in his only stoppage,so it kinda shits on the parade a little. Still a hard nut to crack though.

Yes, there's no denying Chris Eubank had a great chin and heart. Amongst the heavyweights the honours must surely go to Oliver McCall and George Chuvalo - they both withstood flush shots from several big punching heavyweights.
Modern day, I don't think Vitali Klitschko or Nikolai Valuev have ever been on the canvas during their pro careers and Vitali took some powerful punches in the Lennox Lewis fight at least.

4 great chins, although Foreman and Mosley have both been seriously hurt and struggled to recover from them..... but fantastic chins all the same.

mercer had a great chin as well - no one thought he'd ever get stopped, which he did vs the much younger, bigger, fresher wlad

Gerald McClellan's chin was right up there with the best, too good in fact.

I know he got knocked out recently, but Margarito's chin is probably the best I have ever seen (bare in mind, I am still a nipper). Calzaghe's is up there too.

His choice of take it on the chin defence had held up pretty well untill then.

And it still took about a million clean shots from Mosley to take him down. Amazing chops.

Apart from those already mentioned Mike McCallum deserves a shout. The bangers he stood up to. Julian Jackson, prime James Toney x2, Don Curry, prime Roy Jones Jr. Lots of ring savvy too admittedly.

That is not correct, Hagler was never stopped. He lost two early in his career, both avenged and then lost in final fight to Leonard. But we are talking about chins and he fought the likes of Bennie Briscoe, Kevin Finnegan, Eugene Hart, Sugar Ray Seales, Tommy Hearns, Baldwin something or other and many others and only touched down, briefly, once, Roldan I think pulled it off and he was straight back up plus it was arguably a slip anyway.

La Motta is generally regarded as one of the sturdiest chins in boxing history

It was meant tongue in cheek, I'm not seriously comparing them.

I figured the comparison was a pisstake but are you suggesting the part about Hagler getting stopped was not something you thought was true? If you did not actually think or suggest that, I apologise for correcting something that didnt need it
