The fast rising Kazakhstan prospect won again last night.

This time he beat former champ Byron Mitchell - a very impressive scalp for a 8 fight pro novice!

Has anyone seen this guy fight yet?

Beating Montell Griffin, Byron Mitchell and Epifanio Mendoza in his first 8 outings is reminiscent of the pace Kostya Tyszu was moved at when he turned pro (or more recenty Povetkin).

If anyone has a link to any of his fights let me know - I would like to see if the hype has substance to it

Has anyone ever seen this guy fight? I hear so much about him but am somehow yet to find a single video or just a small clip of him in action.

The fact that Byron Mitchell was a substitute opponent for Alejandro Berrio tells you that Shumenov's management aren't hanging about - they must have real faith in their charge..

Surely there must be some footage out there somewhere on the internets?

The Griffin fight was on Youtube but I think was removed. He doesn't want ppl watching him while he's still learning apparently.

He looked big, terrifying, a fvcking monster. But very raw. He hurt Griffin numerous times - can't recall if he droped him - but some of his all out assaults made him need to pause for breath. He looked overly psyched up, not relaxed at all, but bringing power shot after power shot. Seems to have all the punches, but doesn't always use the right punch for the right situation. Not a smooth, polished fighter, uses up too much energy. But very powerful looking, very eager to prove himself, willing to take the tests and a hot pick to be the future champ.

I would actually like to see some easier fights where he can polish his technique a bit, alternated with the tough learning fights.

He wants Zsolt Erdei soon and the 2 are polar opposites in the way they fight and the way they are matched. Indeed, Sumenov's recent fights are probably tougher than Erdei's, who has been fighting merican clubfighters for the WBO grail.

Whilst Erdei has come in for criticism in recent times for his performances and level of oppoistion (and rightly so) if he were to face an inexperienced, some what stiff power puncher (as it would seem Shumenov is from your discription) I would fancy a wily fighter like Erdei to counter punch his way to a points win.

Still, I want to see this lad in action - I am always intrigued by fighters who are matched as tough as this early in their careers.
