Boxrec had this down as just a one-star fight, but I'd say its a bit better than that. Two decent, unbeaten fighters headlining a small hall show.

totally agree mate. Horton can box a bit and has a fans-favourite type desire to fight along with it. always in decent fights. I'd have headed along to this if it was anywhere convenient to me...

maybe, Horton can get that fight set up with Max Maxwell that he was so keen on, at least he was at one point

i see Scott Evans got ko'd in the 2nd. shame, Scott's a nice lad, nice bunch of family&friends. though with his aggressive style i guess it was always going to be kill-or-be-killed

Think Horton will be looking passed Maxwell now (who seems to have gone off recenntly). Apparently this fight (Horton Vs Hainy) was a belter.

max has gone off to an extent mate (the midlands title loss to Rob Kenney,as you'll probaby have heard me say before, was a shocker), also it has to be said his last couple of gigs- going away to the eastend to fight local boy Sam Webb (soon to challenge for a british title having beaten McDonagh) and just a week later to Altringham to fight Mcdonagh himself (lost RSF 1)- have been really tough ones for him. big big step up in class from thew likes of Kenney and Matty Hough to McDonagh/webb/ Cello Renda etc.

i think basically Max has started taking tough gigs just to get fights but for me, he's made the transition from midlands to english/ british gatekeeper level pretty well. he gave Webb a really good test ( I was there that night) especially in the middle rounds.

i still say a fight with him and Horton would be a cracker, esp. with the bad blood between them.

though Horton may be the bigger man and is on a winning run, Max has mixed in MUCH better company now

SK: the more i think about it, the more i think it's not so much Maxwell falling off, as the standard of his opposition getting much better.
RE a fight with Horton, Max doesn't often let his hands go with more than 1/2/3 maximum of punches. he's relatively easy to outwork especially over shorter distances. i still think this would be a belting little yam-yam - brummie fight.

Maxwell had webb down heavy and cut and chased him round the ring but lt his workrate drop at the end.The stoppage against Mcdonagh was a joke realy not saying he was gonna win but let him fight for fcuks sake.He had a draw in glasgow against the local boy which says it all.To be fair max is better away from home thats why hes taking these fights he gets a little tense as shown against Kenny and Randell which both could have gone either way.
One thing tho hes a light middle realy has weighed 11.2,10.13 and 11,2 for his last three fights was just fighting the middles because the fights were there.

good points mate, though i thought when Max won the mids middleweight title he looked in fantastic shape and very solid at the weight which lead me to wonder if thats where his future lay.

He came in at 11.5 and that was with him drinking on the way to the weigh in it was a good oppotunity so he took it but hes always realy been a light middle weighing in around 11.5 or 6 even when the weigh in is same day a few hours before.
Hopefully youl still see a lot more from Max hes very fit and clean living just getting him on the road against tough guy to build his confidence and experiance up(apart from the mcdonagh debackle even the losses on the road have given max a lot of self belief)

hopefully I will mate he seems a nice fella (or at least one who doesn't mind total randoms talking boxing with him) and hard worker, and he will always have my respect and gratitude for cleaning the canvas with Matty Hough.

To be honest mate (CounterPuncher) I think my comments were a little harsh on Maxwell, who I do rate. I just saw it as him settling into the away fighter/journeyman role but hopefully he can get a few more winning fights next up, as you say he's been matched very tough recently.

Would like to see him Horton would be very interesting, I still think Horton edges it but reckon it'd be a cracking fight.

i believe JonP is Jon Pegg, who I believe is his promoter. there's a lot of belief here baby. anyways I am sure Jon can/will keep us posted on that one.

Not far off CP but i see Max as more of a dangerman than a journyman,He can drop decent guys like Webb and Draw with Prospects in glasgow.The Mcdonagh fight was always going to be hard (altho ill never agree with the stoppage) but Max is 29 and just wants to fight at a decent level.
To be honest i think these on the road fights with no pressure are bringing out a confidence that was lacking as hes finally starting to realise he can mix it up with the good guys.
All our lads even the away lads have to give a good effort otherwise theyd get stick in the gym (hence the reason Sid Razak never takes a backwards step He knows hed never live it down at Ritchys)

top stuff. i recall hearing that darren mcdermott was impressed with max in sparring, so he's obviously somewhere around that level

when i say journeyman Jon i just mean he has to have a 'have gloves will travel' attitude
