Froch v Taylor 2

UMmmmm - the plot thickens with regards Froch's next opponent - read this:
Froch v Taylor 2??
Personally I don't want to see this fight - more interested in Froch taking on one of the champions like Bute - but definitely NOT Kessler - the Dane would beat him at this stage.

Why is it that a British fighter who beats an American is automatically assumed to be giving him a rematch, whereas the same concept would provoke hoots of derision were the win to go the other way?

It took This is Nottingham THIS long to find a quote from the Showtime boxing boss, from one day after the fight?
This is just a filler article, to use up an inch or two, surely.

I dont think it thickens the plot, Spuddy.
I think this is probably one of the few mooted opponents who would come to Nottingham - he needs a route back.
However, it would still take a major investment on Mick's part (speculate to accumulate) so I guess like any other mooted opponent travelling to the UK it comes down to -- TV.
I hope a UK fight does happen.
Cannot get Carl's quote out of my head though - where he's contemplating staying in the States.

Just noticed.
At the time of starting this thread we also have
Froch v Bute.
Froch v Kessler
Froch and Henneseey deal with Wazza ?
It'll all come out in the wash.

It has to be Bute though I'd love him to fight Pavlik........definitely has the beating of him on Pavlik's recent form.

I don't see this story as a scoop at all, more like an out of date post fight quote.
I think Froch is hoping that a Bute fight can be made, although both have mandatories etc to take care of. Froch will have to fight the Ward-Miranda winner, unless the winner isn't in any hurry, and I thought there was talk of an Allan Green fight also.
Surely Bute would be next year?
IF Froch could go from Pascal (winning title) to Taylor (beating a name in America) and straight into Bute (unification) and keep winning, that would be one of the best learning curve/example of a fighter stepping up, for a while.

Surely Froch would start quicker and do Taylor even earlier - not that he could do him much later later, mind.

You mean like Lennox and Holyfield? Or Bruno and Tyson?
Hatton would have a rematch with Mayweather if he got past Pacquaio
I'd fancy Taylor to pull out the UD in a rematch although his spirit maybe broken now

Froch vs the winner or Miranda v Ward this weekend, in the UK in a 10,000+ seat arena, hopefully in late July early August.

I think its the right option if froch is what he says he is, a true champion. I think taylor would beat him this time as he was very unlucky last time

I hope it's not Taylor. Been there, done that, move on.

Maybe because it's the way the fight went. Taylor outclassed Froch, put him down early on and was way ahead on points untill that big shot by Froch in the 12th round. So, in some people's eyes, Froch was very lucky to win the fight, because if Taylor had gone another 20 secs he would have won the fight and he effectively hit him with a 1000 to one shot. Taylor was quite naive in that last couple of rounds, because he got caught badly towatds the end of the 11th round and that was the precuser to what happenned in the 12th. Taylor knows that he suffers from stamina issues and came out with the wrong approach in the 12th round, total naivety for a top level fighter, who must have felt that he was tiring and had the same experience with Kelly Pavlik in their first fight. I think that if Taylor and Frch fought again, Taylor would stop Froch or cetainly beat him on points. Kessler is a bridge too far for Froch at this moment in time and in all honesty, could always be a step too far for Frocch. Lucian Bute looks the best bet, which is a very winnable, if unglamarous fight for Froch.

autobarn's right, ive done some work for the NEP and this just looks like classic lazy journalism from them, probably nothing new at all.
The real froch news is that he's looking to a Bute unification.

If it was in Nottingham I'd be quite happy to see Froch Taylor 2, but I'd rather see him face Bute to grab that strap first (in Nottingham hopefully).
Then once he's improved a little go over to Denmark (be a nice weekend away) and take care of Kessler
Sounds nice doesn't it.

there is talk of the fight being in Canada where Bute sells a lot of tickets and Froch's stock has risen since the Pascal, taylor fights
Also Hennessy has that deal with the Canadian channel doesn't he, so would make sense.

i'll say this again i think Bute is stylistically all wrong for froch
he's more a combination/ voume puncher than Taylor, he won't be loading up big shots and wasting energy- i imagine Bute has learned from the andrade fight and not to go mental bouncing shots off the head of a T2 model- he will just be touchin Froch 2-3-4 shots and moving off to the side. i can see the southpaw style and his nice fluid movement giving froch fits. he's technically better than taylor and has better ring-sense.
i'd go for Bute clear UD

Then he will have effectively cleaned out the division, unless someone like Balszay stakes a claim with some big wins, which he won't.

No point in this fight he got outboxed but KO'd him he should he has the power and staminia to defeat Taylor no point in a rematch IMO

I cant see how Taylor can improve from his last outing ?
His soil, his venue, his time difference, his fans.
Wheras Froch can add a lot more to his game the second time, plus he'd have his fans, his soil and british time and no long distance flights.
It can only get worse for Taylor in a rematch.

Gomez, Carl seems like the type of guy who doesn't give a toss about his "0", so is it safe to assume that he would fight Hopkins if the price was right? If he beat Hopkins then that would be an amazing victory. Hopkins is P4P#3 on most folks lists.
And what's the highest weight he will fight at? 170lbs or higher?

I think ppl are flogging a dead horse talking about Taylor and Hopkins.
Froch beat pascal for the title and beat the living shit out of Taylor in the last round, to prove he deserved the title.
WTF does fighting Taylor again gain him? Bute is the next "gain" fight. The most recent article I saw had Froch saying he would prefer Bute unification to Hopkins. who isn't achampion right now and who calls a lot of guys out but wants all the money.
