Reportedly going to fight the winner of Fraggomeni & Wlodarczyk (who fight this weekend in Milan) after american Matt Godfrey refused to fight Hide in an eliminator in Germany. I believe its 10 years since he lost the WBO title to Vitali, at 37 Hides last chance.

Well deserved shot IMO. He's been fighting regularly all over the place over the last few years, clocking up wins.

Whilst I agree he hasnt actually fought anyone of any real note.

Well he's taken all types of matches in order to work up the ranks, perfectly reasonable career route.

he deserves this fight and i belive he can beat both easily if he doesnt fall asleep in fights in the later rounds as sometimes he does

Well deserved? lol. As far as I can see, of late he's been beating the calibre of guys he has been flattening all his career. If this shot is coming off that win over Rudiger May, then i guess he's more deserving than some, although May never did anything.

Fragomeni is all wrong for him, he probably knows it, and I fully expect him to get KOed and retire. When was the last time Herbie beat a tough pug who never stops coming forward? Oh yeah, he's avoided them all his career. Cash out fight for herbie.

Well, his last 3 have been 12-9, 7-5 & 15-4. Cunningham, Huck, Floes, Godfrey, Arslan, Tokarev, Banks & Alexeev? COuple of them have recent losses, but any one would have given him a stern test. Or, how about anyone form WBC top 15!!

exactly the point that needs to be made, herbie won the right for an eliminator its been postponed or the guy has changed a few times so he's ended up fighting bums to stay active and if bobby gunn can be seen to be top 15 material herbie should deffinatly be fighting for the title

Couldnt agree more. Always liked Herbie, terrific fighter with world class power and skills.

Would like to go over and support him.

Fragomeni will be too much for Hide. He gave Haye a good run for his money and has proven himself since that fight. Tough, durable fighter. He will drag Hyde into the trenches and will not be bullied by him.

I fell Fragomeni would be a more winnable fight for Herbie than Wlodarczyk.

I am a closet Herbie Hide fan.

I got into him by watching a lot of his early fights live & he´s the hardest puncher I´ve ever ´heard´live (& I´ve watched Lennox Lewis live )

He can be a bit of a nincompoop at times, but you cannot deny that he is exciting to watch: In fact, I can´t think of a boring Herbie Hide fight, as they´re either devastating blowouts, or they involve him polishing the canvass repeatedly with his shorts! D

I don't think Hide beats either guy. The snap seems to have gone from his punches and the frailties will still be there once he takes a shot.

Plus Herbie, for all his offensive skills in his prime, has always been totally overrated. Would pick Afolabi over him any day of the week

I think Hide still has what it takes to beat either man, although equally i wouldn't be surprised if he was to get flattened by a random journeyman if he takes a tune up.

I'm also quite surprised Fragomeni is such a big betting favourite for the fight, i'll be going big on Wlodarczyk but he'll probably need a stoppage in Italy.

I cant see how he deserves it he's fought nobody's since his return would love to see him fight Enzo Mac before a title shot hope he does well though

Hide doesn't have the speed in his shots anymore, it looks like he's having to 'think' the punches to throw , instead of it coming naturally to him.

At his peak as a cruiser he hit as hard as Haye, but those days have gone.

One last payday for him though, I do like Herbie.

I reckon Herbie is past it but most of the crusers arent much cop anyway so he has a shot

Godfrey is fighting Adamek on the 10th of July in New Jersey.

Good News!!! it will be good to see Herbie in a high profile fight again!!
