Tyson Fury vs Sam Sexton :

Could Tyson win this fight inside his next five to ten fights ? Is he ready for that type of challenge ?

Ordinarily, i would'nt say that Tyson was ready for a Britsh title shot, never mind the Commonwealth title, but with the changing of the guard happenning rapidly and the likes of Williams, Sprott, Harrison and Skelton giving away to newer names such as Sexton, Chisora and Rogan, can Tyson take on the likes of Sexton and beat him within his next five to ten fights ? Despite Rogan being the commonwealth champion up to last night's fight and Sexton now holding that belt, both of these guys look like domestic level fighters to me and fighters' who are not really worthy of being seen in that level of class. As an example, Skelton, the former title holder would beat both Rogan and Sexton 9 times out of 10, so i'm not suggesting for one moment that if Tyson beat Sexton, he would be considered a figher of near European standard.

However, i looked at Sexton last night and saw a fighter who has some decent technique and skill, but also a fighter who lacks fitness and stamina, has'nt got any punching power and was up against a fighter, who is quite predictable, fairly basic in technique and getting on in years. At times, he was just keeping Rogan at bay and not forcing the fight and whilst his tactics did work to a point, he was heavily exposed at times by a fighter, who though last night showed significant improvement, is basically a crude come forward brawler, with heart and determination as his main weaponary. Tyson would also suffer from fitness and stamina problems, because he has yet to move up to eight and ten round fights, but he has a good range of shots, is fairly accurate, has good speed and some power to back it up and i would fancy him to topple Sexton within his next five to ten fights.

Tyson still is very raw and has a lot to learn. His technque needs some work, he has'nt been taken past two rounds, has'nt fought anyone of any note, has'nt been aggressively atacked and has'nt been hit with a full blooded power shot as yet, but i feel that he has the tools to take on Sexton and beat him. I doubt that this match would be made, because Sexton will be on a different path to Fury, whilst ever he holds that commonwealth title and maye both camps see equal risk in taking each other on at this stage of there respective careers. My main point is that Tyson will be ready to compete at that level within a very short space of time, because he will be moving up to six or eight round fights witiin his next two fights and the opponents will not be far off the standard of Rogan and at the pace in which he is setting fights up, he could be challenging for titles within a year.

What do you guys think ?

That's why my proviso would be for Tyson to take on the likes of Sexton after maybe 10 more fights and at that stage, he would have done some eight round fights, built up his stamina and faced a few fighters who are akin to the standard of Rogan. In my opinion, it's just Tyson's fitness and stamina that have to be improved and then he will be a big force in the British heavyweight domestic scene and will perhaps dominate it. I agree with your point that Tyson has to be patient and we need to see him up against better calibre opponents and as you say, the Cisora fight will be interesting and a gauge to see if raw talent is enough to push experience to one side.

I think Sexton would win I dont rate Fury that highly not that i rate Sexton any higher but in 5 fights i think Sextons expierence would see him win a mid KO IMO

How many fights has Sexton had? 13. People are talking about him like he is some well experienced veteran. I think it's sad that you can win these type of titles with such little experience, shows how devalued they are. Same with Chisora, he's had 9 fights or something and is already talking himself up as the real deal.

agree. but when 'top' fighters only compete once or twice a year, the fighters below them start doing the same or similar, and it degrades from there.

I couldn't believe the reverence they gave Chisora on Buncey.

You'd think it was a young Riddick Bowe or some such, and is being compared to the mid-eighties heavyweights entirely good?

over 6 round id take tyson now over sexton but 8 or more rounds id favour sexton atm but in 5 fights i think tyson would win but i wanna see tyson vs price ASAP i think tyson is faster but price is a harder puncher

Traditionally the commonwealth title has been seen as the more prestigous belt, simply because the range of fighters available to challenge for that belt is huge, in comparison to the British title, so therefore, it's probable to state that you will get a better calibre of fighter challenging for that title. I know that it's a title that is now used by Warren to advance his fighters, i don't need you to tell me that or anything else. You say that the commonwealth title is full of "cab drivers and market stall holders from Ghana", so in your opinion, that's not the case with the British title ? If you think differently, your deluding yourself, the British domestic scene is full of the cab driver, nightclub bouncer, market stall trader types. The reality, is that the two belts now just about equate to each other, the only difference being, that the commonwealth belt has more prestige assocaited with it, because of how the system used to operate, before multiple governing bodies and world champions, a time when you could'nt manipulate yourself to a world title, aka Amir Khan etc etc.

Seems that the challengers provided by the BBBOC are bonafide #1 contenders though,w hereas commonwealth can eb anyone, as was the case when Khan had the commonwealth belt and Thaxton had the British title.

I dont really see what Sexton has done that Fury hasnt over the course of their perspective careers, aside of course from what I understand was a dubious stoppage of Rogan on Friday. So for me, theres no clear favourite, and certainarly no twen fight deficit as was suggested.

Turn the scenario around and imagine you were asking 'is Sexton ready for Fury'. Can anyone see Sexton winning then? I certainly can't whichever way you spin it, and Sexton isn't the type of fighter someone like Fury has to 'work up to' at this stage. Sam would be reaching with everything. Fury is going to get far just based on his size. That aren't many heavyweights who are skilled enough to land on him with much success. If Fury has a chin I see him outlasting all the 6'2 burly Eastern Euro types who comprise the heavy scene. As long as the Klits retire, I think he can go all the way.
