What're the chances?

You would give the following men in these bouts, assuming you probably would not favour them?
Dempsey against Louis?
Baer against Frazier?
Marciano against Holmes?
All three of the first names have attributes conducive to defeating their typically more-fancied foes, here.
How likely is the unlikely, in your opinion?

- Dempsey has both the style and attributes to beat Louis.
Baer/Frazier more likely to swing either way, depending on which version of Baer shows up. I'd favor Joe 7 out of 10 chances based on consistency.
Rocky is a terrible match up best to best against Holmes who'd be flummoxed with his style. Only way Holmes could ever win is by cuts, because in a style match up, a slug out, or a volume matchup, he loses. Rocky would smother him in close.

Someone who knows Larry's style very well once stated in no uncertain terms that Rocky couldn't carry his jock. This seems to fly in the face of your statement. What do you say to that?

My opinion is all 3 faves win, with Frazier/Baer being a massacre.

Holmes by wide points win or cuts stoppage imo
Dempsey would give Louis loads of trouble, great fight hard to predict
I dont know enough about Baer to say he could beat Smokin Joe, I dont think many heavyweights in history would

Demspey one in four against Louis.
Marciano one in four against Holmes.
Baer one in 15 against Frazier.

Id say Dempsey has the best chance at the 'upset'.
3-1 Louis.
Then Holmes is maybe a 6-1 favourite over Marciano.
Frazier would have to be a heavy favourite over Baer.
Say 10-1 ?

I favor Frazier over Baer too but it's not an easy fight for Frazier. You don't go straight into Max Baer and not eat up some punishment. It would actually be a fun fight to watch. Joe may get knocked down early but I think he stops Maxie by the 12th round.
The other fights would be classics. Louis vs the ultimate pressure fighter Dempsey. I favor Louis by stoppage but it's really anyone's fight. WOuld've made a great series.
Holmes-Marciano: No doubt Holmes would box Rocky's ears off in the early part of this fight. The question is what happens when Larry's legs stop moving so much and Rocky lands some to the body? I view Marciano as a far superior fighter to both Shavers and Weaver who both managed to tag and hurt Larry bad. In the end I favor Holmes by a decision but I would've loved to see it played out.

I give Dempsey a 40% chance, Baer a 25-30% chance and Marciano a 50% chance of winning.

I fancy Baer as our dark horse here, gentlemen. He's probably the most likely to be overlooked, but when that right hand lands on the forward-moving target, things could get interesting...
