Yeah didn't Hatton do him in a round with a body shot? Colin is a nice guy and a class act, perhaps he is a little mentally fragile when the going gets real tough tho

I don't agree with that. When his old man was in a dire way it actually inspired him to perform better, and he went on a great little run of fights showing great skills and tenacity. I don't think that is a sign of a weak minded person/fighter.
For example we saw what happened to Witter when he was having out of the ring problems.
I know people react in different ways, but it's clear that Colin was able to put that negativity aside, and inspire his in the ring ability to new levels.
However, I do think Lynes thinks he is a banger, when he clearly isn't, and I think that has always been an issue for him and he has ignored his boxing to go head hunting.

Colin certainly used to be a banger but has been plagued by bad hand problems since early in his pro career.
When I was refering to possible mental fragility it was in regard to quitting in fights

There are these 'home problems' he did not want to elaborate on but they certainly sounded serious.

Colin Lynes is a good guy and a good fighter.
Interesting to see that he's gone for M'Baye

You title your post like "Flex" is supposed to mean something to boxing fans. Personally I prefer Buncey, or Eric Guy, or Bob Mee or even 'The Sweet Swatter from Sweetwater'.

I think Colin does not get the recognition that he deserves, He is a good honest pro, not in the pound for pound class, but a good fighter nevertheless, I have watched him from a 14 yr old and his brother box till now, and you cannot meet a more friendly guy than him,
I remember a story, when he won the IBO title, a few days later and we were chatting, he felt that people did not think he had their respect and was pretty down even tho he won the title, I told him, listen, you have achieved what not many people would ever manage to do in their lives, 'You are a world champion' no matter what people say or do, YOU HAVE DONE IT!! and it hit him, he was a champ!!, still dont think it sank in tho...,
But Colin is a really nice guy, and its so nice to see guys come up from Junior amateurs to world titles.
And as I wrote this I called him and had another chat and he remembered that story,
happy memorys.......

Nice story and Colin comes across really well in interviews. He is a cracking fighter (his jab is certainly world class) but a world champion he aint.
IBO is just another baubel as far as I am concerned.

While I'm not vain enough to think everyone on here will know me, the fact is that the section is called Flex Speaks, so by putting Flex as a sign-off it lets them know that I'm the author. Also, most people in boxing call me Flex ( as well as some other more unsavoury names I'm sure), rather than Danny. I hope that is satisfactory.

I figured it out from the title. What someone wants to call themselves on this forum is fine by me.
Good interview.

Yeah, it is satisfactory, along with this week's issue of BN. I believe there were at least 15 mistakes, typos and errors all over the place, layouts dull, awkward and rushed-looking, along with that 'satisfactory' front page, of course.
Just another satisfactory week in the life of today's Boxing News.

I'm not here to defend BN Bennie. If you hate it so much, you can always elect not to read it. Admittedly you'd then have nothing to complain about but them's the breaks. It seems no matter what subject I choose to start a thread on, you bring it down to personal points scoring. I have nothing against you – I wasn't even here when you or your brother were here – so I'm not sure quite why you direct your invective against me. But hey ho, whatever makes you happy. I'll carry on doing my best for BN, satisfactory or otherwise.
Now, if anybody wants to leave a comment about Colin Lynes...

Believe me, son, I don't read it but it's good to know that you know its limitations. F uck me, you can't even defend it.
PS: For what reason are you here? You have your own site.

Come on Bennie, you may not rate him, you may hark back to the halcyon days of Mullan and all - don't we all - but cut the lad some slack, part of the reason fresh blood was brought in was to develop web presence for the brand and the mag. They've not sold out by going 100% on line, they've tried to build a younger audience via the net, social sites all that. Granted its not to everyone taste but they have a commitment to keep the BoxingNews relevant for another 100 years, and to do that they need to position it to sensibly reach a wider, crucially younger, audience.
At times this has meant crossing boundaries laid down by history and those who went before them, only time will tell whether it was the right path but dbflex is just trying to play the hand he's been dealt and while he's not as seasoned, knowledgeable or skilled as his predeccesors, he's earnest, keen and trying hard.
He's also shown a maturity in dealing with all the bitterness sent his way.
And the boxing world is different now, promoters are not dependent on the Boxing News to get their message to fans. The advent of the net weakens the hand of the BN editor and the it could be argued the hardball stance taken by HM in the past would be hard to replicate now. After all, how relevant would the BN be if they were not ringside or couldn't access 30% of the top line fighters?

I'm just saddened, David, that a once great magazine, that advertised itself, that used to care for its readers, that is approaching its centenary, now has to be repeatedly 'plugged' like this.

I know Bennie, I feel it fella. But its a busy market out there and no matter how good the editorial was it would struggle to be heard above the noise of the net without pushing itself on forums like this.

Come on Bennie, be fair on Flexen, I think he is doing a good job, I still read BN so I feel I am in a good position to defend him. With you and your brother being ex BN staff, I feel you have your own agenda here.

Come on, if you don't read it how are you so up on how many typos are in it??
Maybe BN isn't what it used to be or maybe it has changed out of necessity with competition from some excellent websites that are freely available to anyone with the internet?
Danny is also promoting something that is on the boxing news website, not the magazine. Is it not a good thing that the mag has an online presence in this day and age? If Danny had his interview in the magazine, there would be no need to promote it but until the online side is established he will want to promote it to fans that may well be interested in hearing what Colin Lynes has to say.

I think everyone has defended me to such an admirable extent, I don't need to say much more. thanks guys. and just to say I am far from the only person who comes onto this forum promoting articles from other sites. Right or wrong. lots of people do it and it seems to work, to an extent.
