Tyson Fury – “Del Boy Chisora's a plonker”

Unbeaten heavyweight sensation, Tyson Fury is hoping that a win over Scott Belshaw this weekend will leave him just one step away from a shot at the British title. Fury takes on Belshaw at the Watford Colosseum on Saturday night in a “Battle of the Big Prospects”

The scheduled 8 round bout is part of the undercard to the Darren Barker – Darren McDermott Commonwealth Middleweight title fight with the Hennessy Sports event live on ITV4’s Big Fight Live from 7.30pm.

Fury is hopeful that a win over Belshaw will lead to a final eliminator for Danny Williams British Heavyweight title. “I’ve only been a pro since last December and this is just my sixth fight but I believe that by taking on somebody like Belshaw I’ll prove I’m almost ready for a British title fight.”

There had been talk that Williams might defend his title against Derek Chisora next month but with that fight not happening Chisora’s promoter allegedly has admitted that, “Derek will have to get himself into a mandatory position to fight for the title.”

Fury believes that a win over Belshaw should convince the British Boxing Board of Control to pair him with Chisora in what looks like a natural final eliminator for the British title.

“Despite all Derek Chisora’s talk it looks like his British title fight with Danny Williams isn’t happening after all. That doesn’t surprise me, people claim that I’m a mouthpiece but at least I back up my talk. If you ask me Chisora is a genuine mouthpiece, he calls himself ‘Del Boy’ and he’s a 24 carat plonker who’s about as useful as a three wheel van.

“I watched him on Steve Bunce’s show last week sitting in a TV studio wearing dark sunglasses and talking like he was the greatest fighter to walk the planet. Well whatever planet he’s on he needs to get back to the real world because the reality is he hasn’t done anything to deserve a British title fight.

“He’s been a pro for well over two years now and he’s still treading water. In his last fight he laboured to a points win over Daniel Peret, a guy I stopped in two rounds in my third pro fight and this weekend he’s going over old ground by fighting Paul Butlin a guy he already outpointed in his fourth fight.

“How is that supposed to qualify him for a British title fight? He seems to think all you need to do is put on some sunglasses and you’ve earned your right to a British title challenge but he’s not showing any respect for the Lonsdale belt. Why doesn’t he earn the right by taking me on in a final eliminator?”

While Fury is eyeing a showdown with Chisora he says he’s not taking his eye off the task at hand this weekend. “I’ve got to give credit to Scott Belshaw for stepping up to the plate and fighting me. All these other British heavyweights seem to be on the run but Belshaw hasn’t bottled it. He has ambitions of his own and I’m sure he’ll come to fight.

“I heard from very good sources in the gym that Belshaw had Del Boy rolling around on the canvas after he dropped him with body shots in a sparring session a while back. That shows you what Belshaw’s capable of but I know what I’m capable of as well and that’s the bad news for Belshaw.”

Fury V Belshaw is part of an excellent supporting cast to the main event at the Watford Colosseum on Saturday night with Darren Barker defending his Commonwealth Middleweight title against Darren McDermott.

In the chief support bout Matthew Thirwall and George Hillyard will battle it out in what promises to be a thrilling ten round Middleweight clash while hot prospects Bradley Evans, Steve O’Meara, Steve Barnes also feature alongside the pro debut of Tyson Fury’s cousin, Phill Fury. Fury and Chisora are both plonkers. Chisora seems to think he's more important than David Haye and Tyson Fury's press releases are just spouting loads of bollocks that has no relevance.

In His fist 6 fights he has been matched tougher than anyone that comes to mind.
Boxing needs guys like Fury, however I think his press agent needs to lighten the tone,
he comes off a bit bad . But when he's on tv I have to say he seems like a top bloke.

If Fury came out mouthing this sh@t and not backing it up then I for one Would call him a plonker (from a distance),But what he has done so far in only 5 fights is refreshing to see.

He is taking on Belshaw in fight number sixth which again is a big step forward and wants Delboy for an eliminator for the British title in his 7th fight,and then fight for the British in his 8TH fight.He aint taking his time here which may be his downfall but you have to give him his dues for trying.

I like the guy,i like this statement,i have like a few statements from him except the one when he slate's David Price and tells him not to bother becoming a professional as he hasn't got a chin.

Weather its his PR men writing this up,i don't know.But I think Fury would some how know that this and the other write ups are being Published.But the PR side of things are working for him,he rapidly becoming known in the UK because of this.

I like Fury, just as I liked Eubank and Nas when they were around. There's nothing at all wrong with a bit of arrogance as far as I'm concerned. Obviously Fury isn't on the level of those two, but there's no reason he can't do very well in what is a piss weak heavyweight division.

I absoloutely love the stories John Fury can spin about the old days among the trailers and wagons, duking it out with bare fists. I believe Bartley Gorman was a relative of the Fury's, and he was the best of them all.

I hope Fury wins, because, at least this kid is taking on a more on the level opponent whose young and wants it as badly as Fury. After this, if Fury is successful, imo, he should gun for David Price, and if he beats Price, then go for the British title.

Yeah, these press releases are a bit tiresome but Fury is 'must watch' for a british heavy. I like the kid.

I dont hate gypsies/travellers or pikeys at all, its just a phrase from where I come from. Its a lot like americans(yanks) calling the english "Limeys". Nothing nasty in it at all. On the subject of gypsie fighting, dont believe what you hear, gypsy bareknuckle fighter on the whole is very very poor.

Oh believe me, I've seen quite a few on video and alot of street fights in person. Alot of the time its mainly bitching at one another, someone getting kicked in the balls, getting bitten, the crowd getting involved, not a whole lot of punches being thrown, and alot of wrestling or dancing around acting like they're about to throw a punch.

Boxing's come a long way from the days where standard matches had more clinches than Lewis-Akinwande or Ruiz-Rahman.

Tyson is definitely a great prospect and I believe he can go all the way in the heavyweight division.
