Craig Stevens is the best Mc in the Boxing game he was class at the Gb Finals on Setanta the other night he got taking from my amatuer show to do the Tv shot we where gutted but he best in the game worth his weight in Gold a hope he gets a few more shows like he did more exposure as he does all the clubs shows in west of scotland

If this is the Scottish guy, which it sounds like it is, he's a very good MC and a nice fella. Sent me a DVD of one of the shows once and wouldn't take a penny. He should get more TV work.
That "Toy-son Fuurrry" Yank's novelty is starting to wear off for me. He's basically a yank in a suit. Apparently at the last ITV4 show he climbed into the ring between rounds and had to climb back out .........lol maybe it was the Belshaw fight and he was trying to do us a favour.

Laughing John MacDonald is still my favourite from these shores, but we don't see so much of him at the boxing these days. Hearn's pet mc, isn't he? He's usually on the darts and pool, so I've always assumed so.

I agree, John Mac, top MC He's the Matchroom Sports MC so he only does their stuff, darts, snooker, 10 pin etc. All the rest are cack, Burdis, the Yank MC on ITV4, Goodall, Logan, the latest hayemaker Frisby??. Michael Pass is OK but this guy Craig Stephen is very good, he's only been on TV recently but he's been doing the Scottish shows, am & pro for years.

I actually think Tom Treiber is quite good. However, he does need a catchy phrase in his arsenal.

Treiber is novelty value only.....I actually find him quite annoying he tries to hard and doesn't come across very naturally.

Robster I actually think Goodall is a quality MC having seen him in person and on TV many times.

You're right, mate. It wasn't fair lumping him in with the others, but I reckon his best days are well behind him, he often absolutely murders some Eastern European or African name. I've also seen his son do a Braveheart promotion in Scotland, he was ok but no showmanship.

I saw him in Manchester at the Khan Barrera Parisgate fiasco......he came out to do the final fight or 2...fair do's you probably don't exactly want to follow Jimmy Lennon Junior but there was only a couple of hundred of us left, he could have let his hair down, pardon the pun, and enjoyed himself, but no, he was as stiff as a board as ever. The money must be good that's all I can say.

Stephens is good. I remember speaking to him at Ryan Rhodes v Jamie Coyle and he seemed a decent bloke but I think Michael "Elvis" Pass is the best in Britain. I like Noel Ennis as well but he doesn't get many big gigs either.

I'm sure he's a good guy but he doesn't seem to have the showmanship for a boxing MC, listen to all the MCs like Buffer, Lennon Jr, Pass, McDonald and even that bloke who does the ITV shows and they all seem so relaxed and confident whereas Burdis doesn't he just seems to shout a lot, one fight I thought he was going to run out of the ring he looked so worked up.

Sat just behind John Mac at Hatton-Lazcano, a really good guy, told me all about his adventures following boxing around the world, but was not as affected as some of the people you meet, just a guy recounting his experiences.

Hate to sound like a Colin Jones nut but John was one of the ringside snappers for Curry-Jones, you see him up on the corner of the ring when Jones has his head against the corner post. John gives Colin a pat and looked as gutted as Jones.[/quote]

Is John Mac the chap that did the most recent prizefighter? He seemed like a lovely guy, I was lucky enough to have sat in the press row just behing Claude Abrams, and herad him talking about his recent trip to Italy, and how excellent a certain Mexican prospect was. Fascinating to listen to and you're right Terry he wasn't bragging about it. Him and Claude and another Journalist (not sure who) were recounting their best live fights they had been to, and it was great to listen to.

I watched it and I agree that Pass looked uncomfortable all night.

Don't forget that these MC's usually do one "live" broadcast during the night, the main event, all the rest are highlights and the TV normally cut straight to the boxing, missing out the introductions. At the amateurs there were around 11 live bouts.

This is what made Craig Stephens performance even more impressive at the British ABA's last Friday. 10 fights, all live, one after another and he didn't put a foot wrong, he looked cool and composed all night and he must have done some amount of hanging around waiting for Buncey to stop talking
