Danny Green v Tim Bell

Bell has been on a bit of a run lately and holds the PABA light heavyweight title so I reckon this would be a good fight for Green to take on the local scene and pretty much ensures a very high WBA ranking.

Certainly better than fighting Taylor or another flown in no hoper...

What do you think? Could it happen?

I'd rather see Green go international personally, we often say that we want to see more Australians clean up their own back yard well greeny did that, he should fight the best abroad, and to be honest i don't think anyone here in Australia is quite on the same Level.

I think Danny Green is out of Tim Bell's league at this time.

Tim has beaten locals. Danny has beaten World champions.

well you could probably argue that danny isn't in RJJ's league either but i think we would all love to see the fight go ahead. i would like to see danny take on a bell or lovett to promote australia's light heavy's as a stay busy fight.

I don't think Green v Bell/Lovett would do any good for Australian boxing or for Bell or Lovett. If Green came into the fight focused and well prepared he would destroy both. IMO !! I would like to see Danny fight another overseas opponent and beat on him rather than one of our top light heavy's, if he is having a ''filler'' fight before RJJ. I know its selfish but In would rather see a guy from Argentina or South Africa (or anywhere else) get his record dented by Greeny than one of our top guys.

Roy is getting on in years and not winning well lately. Green has held a major title since the last time Jones did. Roy's next fight is Jeff Lacy. Lacy only managed a majority decision against Otis Griffin after Green cleaned Griffin up in 3 rounds. Let's see how Roy does in that fight.

Roy doesn't have that killer instinct anymore, he just can't finish, he would be a good bet for a decision.

mate, i'm not a big rap for padding records/denting someone elses record. i would like to see danny fight either of the two guys i mentioned before its too late. i believe there would be more interest from boxing followers here in Australia if this happens as we keep bagging other boxers for fighting cab drivers etc.

Exactly unleash, we can't have it both ways, either we want our top guys to fight each other or we want them to fly in easy beats... I know which way I want it.

Taylor-Green postponed!

By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing

Former two time world title challenger Shannan Taylor (49-7-3, 35KO’s) scheduled August bout in Perth with former WBA light heavyweight champion Danny Green has been postponed. Taylor said. “Danny Green’s manager called me today and said that our fight had been postponed but did not give me another date. I am very disapointed because I was confident of causing an upset by beating Danny. We had boxed about one hundred rounds in the gym and I think I had the better of him most of the time.” Taylor has scored knockouts over several world champions including Livingstone Bramble and Jake Rodriguez but lost to Shane Mosley in a WBC welterweight title challenge in 2001. He dropped a twelve round decision to Arthur Abraham in an IBF middleweight challenge in 2006. In 2009 former WBA super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine outpointed the “Bulli Blaster. “Mundine cannot punch but has great speed of hand,” said Taylor.

I dont think anybody's record would be padded. Its a matter of protecting a fighter until he is ready to take a major step up. It would do damage to any of the local guys to fight Danny at this stage of their careers. I see it a total mismatch for any of the light heavies in Aust to get in against Danny. Shannon Taylor fight is a disgrace and shoudln't be allowed to happen!! I hope the fight has been cancelled, not just postponed. IMO

I agree with you you amwsnw, Danny would destroy the current L/H scene here, I would rather see him fight a good import, and i think he has the support and finances to get a good opponent.

Hasn't Danny already cleaned up his own backyard once: Delilse,Murdoch and co.
I mean Delise was as good as Bell or Lovett ever was, and at least Delise and Murdoch had previously challenged for world Titles.

Domestically Danny has achieved almost everything, wheres internationally i think he needs more recognised opponents; Lucas,Drews are good wins but aren't really hall of fame material.

I hope Danny takes the fight on Roys card, then lures Jones back to Perth, if he still wants Mundine then he has had the best prep prior.

As long as the opponent on Roys card is no scrub he's made the right choice, and Taylor can fight in his own weight class against Geale or Pittman, which is what he should be doing anyhow.
