Snapshot! How do you feel about British boxing at the moment

Me, I'm disappointed that Haye's fight is off, mildly interested in Khan, but disappointed its on Pay Perv View (mates won' fork out, and I'm not paying for it on my own) - I'm increasingly interested in the careers of Tyson Fury and Froch, hope to see something from Junior Witter, and I couldn't give a monekeys about the Olympians.

More or less lost interest in Prizefighter and Friday Fight Night, but I do enjoy the ITV shows.

I have a feeling that before long, both Fury and Froch will be on PPV.

I'd hope not, of course, but to be honest if part-and-parcel of this is a growning national interest in boxing again, then it might be a good thing.

It's somewhat depressing that Froch's World Title fight wasn't even shown live.

To answer the title of the thread:

I am totally p*ssed off with the sport at present and will be even more so if Setanta go to the wall.

Whilst the standard of boxing at a professional show is way way higher - some fights are so predictable its like watching paint dry and having been to some recent unlicensed shows they are at the very least exciting and its that excitement the public and the likes of me want to see.

Boxing in this country needs a f*cking great huge kick up the arse!!!

I could go into a rant but won't - I mean I could start off with the BBBofC - then move onto the promoters - have a rant at TV too for allowing some of the sh*t that has gone on but hey whats the point - many of you were highlighting the problems years ago!!!

I've lost interest in British boxing really, too many cancelled shows, too many mismatches, the main promoters over here refusing to put their differences aside so we can see their top fighters fight each other instead of the usual "African hardman" which has become the norm recently. Pisstake it is but mind you the world scene isn't much better either, the last year has been cack.

I think there are good times ahead for British boxing say Fury, Chisora and Price keep winning they will be on collision courses and probably fight each other same with the SMW Groves, Degale, Jeffries and Sutherland all are good and will fight each other imo the MW's Macklin and Barker is bount to happen and will be a cracker i think also Dunne vs Munroe might happen if you count Dunne as British but lots of good fighters and good fights could happen imo

Yeah, I agree about the 'African Hardman'. Now that the WBU has been dropped by a certain promoter (due to TV probably asking for genuine titles only) the commonwealth belt has suddenly devalued itself. We were subjected to obscure 3rd rate Americans for the WBU fights and now "African Harmen" for the commonwealth.

There are some cracking fights to be made domestically, its just they are not being made, and likely will never be.

I think it's the calm before the storm. We've got lots of great fights to come. This year seems very mellow though.

I'm propa devo'd that Setanta are about to go to the wall and with ITV looking as though they're gonna move away from boxing we could be back to the dark dark days of (the owd faithful) Sky being the only Boxing broadcasters in the UK

There were some great shows in late Feb and throughout March, but seems to have lost the pace a lot now.

british boxing is dawning into a new era, with plenty of exciting prospects to boot.
hopefully boxing will draw from the ufc with 50/50 match up's as the intrest of unbeaten & padded records are becoming tedious as viewing figures suggest.
sports network are still pursuing the buisness traits pretty transparently, holding the bigger picture in tv's sights & not concentrating on the prestige of the british & domestic title per say, underlining it basically.
there are great match up's out there & promoters not brave enough to risk there investments, hopefully smaller shows will get punters of there armchairs & create its own tv intrest in this RECESSION which most are deniying.

Good post Spud, I too have been a few unlicensed show's and they are usually far more entertaining, Indeed a few pal's have participated!

Also friend's of mine arrange and take part in arranged field fight's and again the excitement in general is alway's there!

We need this injected back into Pro fight's!!!!!

All in all disappointed with the state of Boxing in this country!

British boxing has been very poor since Warren moved back to Sky last September. Sky's Friday night show is now regularly barely worth watching. Sky seem willing to screen any old nonsense at the moment.

I hope it picks up soon, but I see few signs of it.
