Oldham's eighteen year-old Ronnie Heffron, the current ABA champion at 64kg has joined the paid ranks after being overlooked for the Great Britain team which competes in next weeks European championships in Denmark. He'll be trained by Anthony Farnell and will be promoted by Mr Warren.
Thoughts anyone.

Good luck to him! Quite a lot of "prospects" on the scene at the moment- I'd hope to see some square off against each other soon.

I think BJS has showing great potensial also I really like the look of Sutherland he's adapted well but I hate to say it Fury is coming along nicely his bodywork looks as if he has been pro for ages but its all on potensial at the moment

He doesnt have great hand speed he reminds me on Korobov a bit strong at the weight and good ring generalship and also adapted to the pros really well i like him but you make a good point I think he could be if hes matched well and trained well but i see were you come from he doesnt have great speed but i think he does have a good punch on him

I can remember Tommy Heffron, who must be his dad. He was a tough son of a gun who fought for England and reached the 1978 ABA light-middleweight finals at Wembley, where he lost to the slick Earl Henderson in 1978; otherwise, he might have got the spot for the Commonwealth Games in Canada.
A few big names were at those Games: Azumah Neslon, Mike McCallum et al.

He wasn't true worldclass though, he won the WBO title from a faded Eubank who probably won both fights.

Are there any other prospects at light welter / welterweight coming through who look good? I mean, Billy Joe Saunders is obviously no longer a welterweight. I don't rate Jamie Cox as having enough potential outside of Britain.

Whatever way u look at it Teddy Boy,hes still in the records books as being a world champion..
Sutherland had a far better Amateur career,i know be for u say it dosent guarantee success as a pro
we shall see in the coming years...

I remember His Dad, good strong Fighter. Boxed out of Oldam Boys liked Him.

It must have been a proud moment for Tommy when Ronnie went one better and won the ABA title.

Theres another brother Mark Heffron think he won the NABCS this year&just lost in the junior aba final to Norwichs Caine Brunning the other week....

Kell Brook looks good at the moment I also dont rate Cox hes definetly over-rated he just rushes in Brook would pick him apart

Yeah, I think of Brook as being further along the ladder because of his British title. I'd love for him to move on to European and then World honours.
