Great support, I was told that people were getting turned away at the door, it certainly looked like a full house. The night itself went very well and was finished in time for people to go to the pub. I think that the fact the venue didn't have a bar helped the atmosphere as most people were in their seats all throughout the evening, very rare for a pro show.

McArthur is the ultimate showman, his ring entrance was great, the only thing missing was a spotlight as he came in from the top tier of the stands. Thefight itself was not the greatest, Malek is hard to look good against and McArthur seems to lack that knockout punch. I think, however, that he needs the big occasion to really be at his best. I remember him in the amateurs when every boxer is trying to win and believes that they can, he was always on top form back then. In Prizefighter, McArthur was definitely the boxer of the tournament, the one that they were all talking about, again it was a big occasion with all the boxers believing they could win. I think that this brings out the real Gary McArthur, wheras fighting a journeyman results in a lesser performance.

Read in the paper that Gilmour wants to put him in with Lee McAllister if McAllister takes the Commonwealth belt next Friday. That would be explosive and a guaranteed full house in Aberdeen or Glasgow, both are big ticket sellers and great self publicists. This is the sort of fight that would bring out the best in McArthur, I'd love to see it happen.

i thought exactly the same as this on the Maloney show when Napa lost his European title
