Who's the best Khan, Thaxton or Murray?

He asks that barely 15 mins after the guy loses - if I were Lawton I would have twatted Clarke there!!

Tosser
Makes Adam Smith look professional!!

agree, that was pretty pathetic, sounded like he was interviewing a politician like a poor man's Paxman. Would have laughed if Lawton had just walked out on him.

The whole ITV crew is a joke, Lawton was taking a one sided beaten yet Rawlings and the Duke claimed Murray was throwing nothing more than arm punches and was slowing down :o

Got to agree - after Team Murray acted in the proper way by showing Scott Lawton much deserved respect you then have that buffoon Clarke doing an interview like that.

Honestly it was an embarrassment (pretty much like our football team Spuddie!!)

Thing is Clarke used to be very good with the football.

Lawton was treated very poorly tonight!!

PS.Stop bangin on about Murray not making the weight

Even more disappointed with ITV than usual. Old Barry can be a bit random but is listenable, Thaxton did a great job but the rest of them need a good slap. The commentary was typically over opinionated and inaccurate (the whole Murray's slowing down line was bled to death), interviewing was dire, and focus on weight issues at the expense of quality analysis of what was a pretty good fight was painfully frustrating.

Full credit to Murray and Lawton for a good scrap, shame ITV struggled to pass on a similar message.

  - ssshhh about the football mate - I have got away with it so far!!

As for the other comments I agree - ITV were sh*t tonight - but with that said I want them to stay in boxing and as such if they improve and get rid of Clarke they will have my support.

I like McGuigan as a pundit, I think him and Thaxton make a good team too. But Gabriel Clarke is an absolute disgrace. Showed no respect tonight, and never does to any fighter in any ITV 4 show. he's an insufferable cretin.

Also, they interview Phill Fury after his fight, even though they didn't show his fight! Thats just a little bizarre.

That said, its a MUCH better format that Friday Fight Night- they managed to show good live action both before and after the main event.

The whole show was amateurish.

Say what you want about Warren at least his shows are professionally done.

Hennessey comes across badly IMO.

McGuigan - I like, know his stuff
Thaxton - very good
Rosenthal - decent
Clarke - should be pistol whipped

Is that a fair comparison, though?

Warren promotes the fight (just as Hennessy promoted this) , but it's the TV company who puts the TV show together.

Sorry mate got to disagree again!!! - "Meaty Mick" knows his boxing and is like any other promoter - he hypes his boxers up - thats his job.

I do agree about W arren and his mob - they put on a professional front on fight night - things are very well run.

Fair play Whicker - maybe I was being harsh.

Have to apologise to Adam Smith also - maybe a tad annoying but is very professional

For me Hennessey comes across a wideboy,

'We are talkin to Juan Diaz's people etc etc'.

Like someone who name drops for the sake of it.

Spud - you probably know more than me on this so I may be wrong.

FW is much better as is Maloney.

Can't watch a lot of Warren and Maloney shows. I just get bored, unless the Maloney shows have Moore, Sutherland or Martin Murray. No joy really with the Warren shows - AT ALL - he talented fighters in boring divisions, he gets opportunities for his boys but not loads of competitive action.

Hennessy's are the only cards I can watch each time. Good talent or good fights, each time.

That said, I felt Mick was name dropping with Barker, a fight or 2 ago when he threw out Ouma or Jantuah's name and nothing at all happened.

Yeah, they seem to be the only regualr cards that show more than one live fight!

Biggest name dropper in the business.

Does it to look good.

If he can't get Froch's next fight over its a disgrace

Hey mate!!

"Meaty Mick" is just doing his job - he is in my opinion a very good promoter - you mention him being a "wide boy" in once sense I disagree with you however he seems to be putting on more and more timber - bless him he is fit to pop!!! - as for the name dropping  I love to do that myself!!!

You mention Frank Maloney - yeah Mr W arren puts on some big shows but there are not enough of them - and when you mention TV contracts - its Maloney out of all of them who is sitting pretty whilst the others are scrabbling around trying to find a good deal with the rumours of ITV pulling out and the uncertainty of Setanta.

Fair enough
TBF to Hennessey he has a good batch of fighters.

Froch, Witter, Barker, Murray brothers, Fury etc etc.

Just get the feeling it will all go tits up - don't know why just think it will

Without TV its going to be a huge struggle for any promoter - fighters want not only to be paid well but kept busy - and without the TV revenue its going to be a big struggle - I am not sure how long Meaty Mick has left on his contract - I am sure I saw somewhere something like the end of this year or certainly the first half of next - that might be enough time to push some stars through - if Barker proves me wrong and does something on the European stage, if Murray takes off and Witter gets his world title back then with Froch already established then Hennessy Sports will be a viable proposition that very few TV companies will turn down - but there are a lot of "ifs" in there!!!

Have to say I'm glad Clarke interviewed Murray after the fight. You could see how upset Murray was, and how much he regretted losing the title, how much it meant to him and how he realized his error of not getting it absolutely spot on. Hopefully this has some bearing on what the Board do to Murray. If he's not allowed a quick title shot I think this will be bad for British boxing. A classy fighter who knows he got it wrong, but who could still deliver the goods on the night. If we have to wait for Murray-Thaxton, it will be bad. Will certain parties be campaigning for Watson or Henry Castle, will the Board want to punish Murray and have Thaxton v Whoever for vacant belt?

one plus point with itv is that when they tell you the 3 fights they are going to show at the start. they show them fully. there is no time constraint. it really annoyed me the other week when we had an undercard classic with sykes and crolla and sky still skipped rounds. they could not overrun over for a few minutes. there was propably not much on afterwards either.

one reason i really i like hennessey and the hayemaker bills on setanta is that they are given proper time and you get to see everything that you would want to see. with sky when the main event goes the full 12 the rest of the card is often rushed. even on the last khan bill we would not have seen hall v pryce (3 rounds) only for the delay in the enzo mac fight starting and the fact the fight was so short. yet now on the next bill hall is down as one of the attractions. i could name a few other bills where we have missed fights or parts of fights when we should have seen the whole lot that we should have seen.

sorry for going on a sky rant. ive said my bit now.
