he beat Gomez pretty easily, much more easily than khan.

I was always a fan of Lear and wanted to see him fight on but it never happened. he might have been able to make waves at world level. He definitely was European level at worst.

any man that beats gomez, would have a good chance of being European champ.
lear was a top class kid, he would have done a lot more, if he had to carred on.

I am not saying Kevin Lear wasn't a top bloke and a very good boxer - but world class - sorry didn't prove it and yes he was bloody unlucky with injuries etc etc - theres too much of this world class tag being banded around - unless you prove it - sorry you cannot be called it!!! - if you are unlucky with whatever - sorry boxing is harsh - its no good living in the world of "what could have been".

lear wasnt dedicated simple as,never mind injuries.

the lad had the talent to jump in with anyone,& he would do..an eastend streetwise kid who maybe enjoyed himself too much.

Sorry to disrespect - Kevin Lear and his achievements - I have already stated I liked him and thought he was good but he did not prove he was a world class boxer and for you to justify your argument that he was by stating he was the WBU Champion really says it all - I bow to your superior boxing knowledge and the outstanding WBU!!!

Of course he didn't prove it, and indeed the WBU title is a joke and a curse on boxing, but I still think he could have possible BEEN world class.

He was a decent fighter,but simler to alex arthur but not as good,definitly NOT world class...

Always quite liked Lear, good boxer, certainly was a prospect to keep an eye on but world class, no.

Probably capable of a half arsed WBO title reign like Scott Harrison, Arthur and Cook.

Shame that any boxer has to pack it in with injuries at 25, especially when they are unbeaten and will probably have a whole heap of "what ifs" to live with for the rest of his days.

Yep, that was pretty much the limit of his potential in my opinion. I believe he could have gone a little beyond Euro and beat some alphabet soup fighters, but I don't think he would have ever beaten a legitimate top 8-10 guy.
