CHAMPION PAVLIK’S PROBLEMS CONTINUE

Youngstown, OH- World middleweight (160 lbs) champion Kelly Pavlik (35-1, 31 KOs) has checked into an Alcohol Rehabilitation Center. Having just signed a new contract with promoter Bob Arum, Kelly, who has lost only one fight to Bernard Hopkins is no stranger to alcohol abuse and its related problems.

KELLY SUFFERS FROM SEVERE THIRST PROBLEM

Before he won the title from Jermain Taylor, Pavlik reportedly got into a scuffle with a policeman which is said to have brought about probabtion. Soon after besting Taylor, Pavlik put his fist through a window in his home, requiring over 50 stitches to repair. All in all, the 27-year olds psyche was destroyed by Hopkins, who upset long odds by shutting Kelly down late in October 2008.

I don't rate the guy, would love to see Froch beat him. He looked crap v Rubio, Hopkins exposed him and it's obviously had an effect.

He's a decent world champ but not the all-conquering superman he was made out to be.

The demon drink, not good at all!

He is a basic fighter - but right now he has to beat the drink.

still reckon he'd come thru carl froch.

hopkins may have exposed him.

but froch is no hopkins.

Bad news Pavlik is a good fighter there are many good fights out there for him AA, Froch, Bute, Kessler lets hope this doesnt retire him

If ony he could handle the drink like wricky!

no doubt he will learn that it's not his fault, that the drink went up to him and got him.

there is a lot of denial with alcoholics

first they deny they have a problem

then when they are cured they deny it was their fault

it's practically a disease that caught them, and this causes a lot of problems. i've known recovered alkies who cannot accept responsibility for anything that goes wrong
