Haye responds to Klitchsko...... through Sly Sports !!!!

David Haye has delivered a tough talking response to IBF and WBO world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko's claim he would knock him out.
Former undisputed cruiserweight champion Haye had been scheduled to take on the 33-year-old Ukrainian in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on Saturday night before a back injury forced the Briton to pull out.
Klitschko delivered a professional display at distance to dispose of the previously undefeated replacement Ruslan Chagaev and then reacted angrily when posed questions about a future bout with Haye.
A contest with mandatory WBO challenger Alexander Povetkin looks Klitschko's next move in September, and the outspoken Haye has conceded he may have to fight older brother and WBC champion Vitali first, while he waits for Wladimir to free his schedule again.
Boring
"Wladimir sold 65,000 tickets off the back of the fact he was going to fight me. None of his fights prior to that have come anywhere close to that because he's a boring, un-entertaining fighter," Haye told Sky Sports News.
"It's just unfortunate that I got the injury in training but he just went out and did his usual thing. For me, he's Wladimir 'the cure for insomnia' Klitscho. He couldn't be more boring.
"He had the guy beat from round one, but he let it go on for nine rounds. He didn't knock the guy out, the guy retired in his corner and it's that sort of performance, which just shows why he hasn't got a very big fan base.
"For me, to be the number one in the world you've got to beat both the Klitschko brothers. His brother hasn't got any obligations and he's free in September so we'll see if that's a possibility.
"If it's Wladimir first or Vitali first it doesn't bother me. I've got to fight both of them anyway so I don't care which one comes first."
Confidence
The Bermondsey Bomber, nicknamed 'Hayemaker', has no doubt he has what it takes to overcome Wladimir, despite the Ukrainian's 53-3 record.
"He'll get paid two or three times more for fighting me than fighting any other fighter on the planet so it doesn't make sense for him to fight anyone else unless he genuinely doesn't want to fight me," Haye added.
"The fight makes sense once I'm healthy and I guarantee it'll be much more exciting than that snoozefest that he put us through last night.
"Everybody that fights him has no head movement and no clue, they don't move their feet and they're just sitting ducks.
"Anyone who watches me knows I don't go out there and get hit by silly shots I go out and throw angles. I throw punches in clusters and I've got a clue about how to fight. I was the undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world and I was that for a reason.
"He's a lot bigger than me but he's a hell of a lot slower. He looks petrified whenever anyone considers throwing a punch at him - he runs across the ring, arms out, looking terrified.
"Nobody is really interested in seeing him fight they just want to see me fight, so me and him is the biggest fight out there. Lets make it happen."
Obviously the end is nigh for Haye and Setanta. Going over to the other side already it seems.

Johnny Nelson was talking shite last night on Sky.
"The best way to beat Klitschko is to let him to come to you and make mistakes. That's what David Haye should do".
No, that's what Johnny Nelson should do if he fights Klitschko. Hayes should go forward and pressurize Wlad. He'll get picked apart if he goes onto the back foot.

Interesting point made by Fwank on the Boxing News website....
BN: What’s your take on the David Haye situation?
FW: I don’t think he had a back problem with the alleged back injury I think he had a Setanta problem. He asked for the money up front and they wouldn’t pay him. I know that for a fact.
NB David Haye and Adam Booth deny this is the case and he is due back in England next week for physiotherapy on the back injury that they claim forced his withdrawal.
Clearly i dont need to explain to anyone the possible motives of Fwank for making such comments and the real possibility that the comments are absolutely disingenuous, but its an interesting point and would appear to tie in with Haye making such statements through Sky and not Setanta.

Content was actually irrelevant. The point was he was makiing the comments through Sly Sports and not Setanta, i think that is quite significant.

Haye should sue the bastard for his comments if they
are untrue. That would be great.

I’ve been told by a source that David Haye isn’t injured. Setanta have until the end of June to find something like 45 million. They failed to pay the Scottish Premier League £3m they owe them. They need to pay the Premier League £35m this month.
Haye wants to get paid, as he’s not 100% certain he can win. So he doesn’t want to lose, which could be. His only decent payday. If he loses then his stock goes down.
He said David Haye even approached Sky. Asking them to pick up the fight but they turned it down. Setanta asked Sky for a loan which they also turned down. Sky are hoping Setanta will lose subscribers because of this farce, which will put the final nail in the coffin.
David Haye had to pull out with an injury because Wladimir Klitschko would sue. David Hayes injury will be healed in just 3 weeks for a few reasons. Setanta will most likely be gone by July, they need to make the June deadline. They are looking for investors. If Setanta folds, then Sky would be willing to broadcast the fight in July. By only needing 3 weeks. David Haye was hoping that Wladimir Klitschko would agree to postpone the fight. The David would get paid by Setanta or Sky depending on whether Setanta can get any investors by the end of June.
I posted this before it even came out that Setanta owed the English Premier League money.

I still find it funny that at first Haye/Booth wanted a delay to July 11th
and than when Wlad chose to find someone else on June 20th they quickly had a press conference in London saying Haye wouldn't be Fit to Fight till September
All makes the Setanta Theory more likely to me

Yes, that really was utter, utter, utter shite wasn't it? Fight a 6ft 8inch jab master on the outside? Tool.
ok in the defence of Nelson he is trying to look at the fight a different way as 90% of the fighters who have fought have had their ears jabbed off. Wlad is very segure in his jab comfort zone and if he can be forced to fight out this comfort zone it would give the other fighter a big chance. Wlad can sometimes look off balanced if he over reaches or is forced into retreat but now tends to hold if someone gets in close. Wlad does seem angry with Haye so maybe if Haye hung back a bit Wlad would be forced to come forward to land his jab rather than the other fighters head finding it. However Movement, Quick feet and speed of bunch is the key but Haye cant run in because one of the rights Chagaev took last night would flatten him.
Wlad isn't going to be lunging in or reaching though. he is complete safety first so he'll be jab jab jab all the way. If Haye goes on the back foot, Wlad will just jab, jab, jab and eventually time Haye with a right hand. Haye needs to be going to war with Wlad, who looks petrified when someone throws punches at him aggressively. If Nelson was fighting Wlad, with his Ingle style, maybe drawing mistakes would be his style but NOT for Haye. It's UTTER SHITE to suggest Haye should fight on the backfoot against Wlad.

This isn't the first time Nelson has talked shite. On the Hatton Pacman card, he was saying that Mosley and Hopkins don't deserve to be on a pound for pound list. "They're just old men, they shouldn't be on that list". Mosley was lineal champ at 147 and Hopkins just annihilated Pavlik.

The only way to beat Wlad is to rush him and don't give him time to think. Wlad's not a great instinctive fighter and always looks panicked when being backed up. You need good footwork and fast hands to do that, and I think a decent reach would make it a lot easier.

Agreed. I think Haye has the balls to go for it. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him switch to Plan B after he takes his first solid heavyweight jab, 10 seconds into the fight.

This is typical of Frank. You just know if it the shoe was on the other foot he would be sueing Haye for defamation of character!!

65,000 tickets because of Haye? Isn't Klitschko big in Germany no matter who he fights anyway?

Yes, Klitschko is huge there, 11 million people watched him fight Chagaev on TV in Germany alone. Most of the people who bought tickets probably knew nothing of Haye, but his supporters like to think the big gate was just because of him. Wlad will sell out any German arena or stadium he fights in.

Well he's been fighting in Germany for over a decade and never drawn more than about 15,000. Unless they just didn't want the hassle of printing and selling another 40,000+ tickets for Thompson, Rahman, Brewster etc i haven't seen an explanation to why he hasn't been selling out the many huge German arenas available for many years.
Maybe the German public can tell the difference between a chubby american coming for a payday and a boxer talking like he really means to win and took it seriously this time as Haye would be so humilated if he didn't back up his trash talk.
HBO refusal to screen this without Haye involved seems to suggest he brought something to the table too.

Crusader and one or two others...Haye sold the fight. That is a fact. He wore the t-shirt, the tickets went on sale and three hours later the first 35,000 had gone.
Klitschko's promotional partner came on the Bunce Hour and admitted this, the guy in charge of the ticket office at the Veltins Arena admitted this, the men from RTL admitted this when they came to London to film.
Trust me, Haye was the magic in that 61,000 crowd.
Klitschko was willing, remember, to fight in London at Stamford Bridge because he thought that the gate would exceed 40,000 and he could therefore make a nice few quid. If he could easily sell 61,000, why would he even think about fighting Haye in London?
The Haye factor shocked everybody. Trust me.
Adios.

I think the fact that they staged it in a small town that has a big football club helped. A lot of the locals will have gone along as it's not often you have a world heavyweight title staged in a small town like that. Quite savvy marketing.
Shirow, where are you getting your attendance figures from?

I'm not. I'm lazily taking the total capacity of the arenas he's been fighting in. I don't know if he's ever come close to selling out the Koln Arena or SAP in Mannheim be if he had those are the sort of numbers he would have been doing - far below anything like the sales he made for the weekend.
